I only went out for a spin and came back with a Zed - what's happening to me??

It's not my fault - I have been a Ford Capri person for 20 years. Never a Jap car - then this mate of mine went and sold his Capri 280 and got a Zed.

Huh! I said. He'll be back for another 280. Then I saw his Zed and the doubts started coming thick and fast. No problem says I - this is something I can handle. Won't get to me I thought.

So I find myself Googling 300zx instead of Capri - and all these visions appeared and forums and it all got too much.

I even joined this forum, just browsing you understand. I mean who wants to be a member of the Worlds Biggest Youth Club I told myself. It's not decent, it's not right. Is it?

So there it was - a 1994, 55k miler - silver - with 19's on - tinted glass and black leather - nothing wrong with 'loooking' is there?

Well, a spin in it won't hurt anyone either?

Hmm, no bad points - very driveable, very reflective in the windows in town - maybe it's worth it. Afterall it is a £35,000 car at some point in the distant past. A lot of bang for little buck. No grief from the wife. It's a sign, it's a sign says I.

Bottom line - collecting it in a week or so and looking foward to the drive back down the M6 (well not really but there's no other option than the M6).

Piccies to follow.

Any tips on good insurers please?

How mad am I? :confused:PICS ADDED see page 4

Well - Friday came and I collected the Zed. Haven't stopped grinning all weekend and it's only halfway through!!

The car is stunning and has attracted a lot of attention. Can't get over it. My master plan was a stroke of genius - just changed the Jade Rs and put Vortex Evo's on. In one move the car changed dramatically and turned into a super-car. Looks a million dollars.

Will post pics asap.

Where has this Fair Lady been all my life? Even Mrs Peranaman is impressed - result!

Vortex from Wheel Mania - good bunch of blokes especially Wayne.

Then to MotorGuard in Brum who did the Cat 1 stuff - with Turbo timer linked in via alarm of course!!

Will be selling my Turbo Timer shortly.

Nice job mate!! Glad you like your new zed so much

Motorguard put an alarm in my red zed years ago. Top fellas, top work. Also very helpfull with a problem I had on another vehicle that had an alarm fitted by them. It wasnt their fault, alarm got wet from very heavy rain and they told me exactly how to fix it over the phone

the nose panel is a z centre one same as mine

Yes it does look the same.

Any ideas where I can get a replacement bumper or at least are they repairable? They seem very thin to me.

cheers Chris

by the way you have one of the nicer rear spoilers for these things, the 94 models were lucky that way

Thanks - that's why I wanted 94 onwards - many things including updates to the Zed from factory. cheers Chris

Incidentally has anyone seen a dash surround like this before? I wonder if it's a Jap jobbie or custom made?

Any help to trace a replacement would be great.

they are a 99 spec option me old fruit... not easy to come by but there is a company in japan that sells them :D itll prolly cost you less to get a good painter to give you the finish :) they were also available in carbon fibre look.

Roddy - send me a PM and I'll tell you - it's such value for money I can't believe that New Labour haven't found a clause to stop us owning one, Oh wait a minute they have - it's called the Fuel Escalator - Doh!!

What I did was this. I saw my mates Zed - instantly smitten. Searched Autotrader, this site and a few others inc Ebay. Quickly formed a view that I needed a 94 vintage, Auto, Silver low miles and good condition.

That eliminated nearly everyone I saw.

Found mine in Autotrader with a very accurate description. Went to see it and bought the first one I'd gone to see. Which is going against the old saying 'Never buy the first one you see'.

However, if you have half a brain you know what's good and what's not. (Having said that - if I had half a brain why would I buy a beast like this - it has no practicality about it whatsoever - it's pure motoring lust)

If you are wanting one - get one using head and heart (and an accountability partner to accompany you to the purchase) and you'll at least get it out of your system. At the prices involved you can hardly lose. If worst came to worst you could break it and make a fortune on parts!!

Enjoy!

Thay exhaust looks like a trust system the same as mine.
