.......I took the ZX to the Lake District last week and yet again the car was faultless (passed 90k mile mark whilst away too)

Over 1200 trouble free miles including a rather quick 300 mile trip there. It's what these cars were made for afterall - fast motorways and faster A-road travel. It made short work of the cross country trips too, having plenty of mid-range grunt to pass the crawling old folks on their hols at this time of year

I even took it over the Wrynose and Hardknott Passes; the latter was a bit hairy in a wide, powerful car but it was no real problem. At one point a chap in a Zafira in front of me decided to film my car whilst they were driving through the pass. I guess he thought I was mad taking a ZX in there

Who says these cars are unreliable? - mine has never let me down and consequently is always the first choice for holidays (especially as the SLK came back from Cornwall on an RAC truck in June; German rubbish :smash: ). It looked good in the hotel car park as well

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Must agree, whilst mine has had its problems in the past, other than a flat battery, mine has never let me down.

I was there last week to, and also did the wrynose and hardknott passes, did you find the your clutch slipped on a couple of the steeper sections?

Mine was un-faultable until about July last year. PTU went in July, engine went in October and again in March and battery died the other day but was fine after a jump start (cheers Chunk).

Sounds like a fun trip, and glad to hear the ZX didnt miss a beat.

I'm planning on a trip in mine next year, a couple of days camping around the Scottish Northwest coast... especially to take in this road :-

the same road but from the other way.

Luckily the rest of the roads are mainly good a class, just what the Z was designed for.

Since we're talking about road trips.....my mate has just got a dc2 integra and is looking to goto the nurburgring next summer. So, me being me, i said that i'd take my zed across and show him how to drive!!!!!!

And not only to embarrass him on the track, i wanna have a wee shot on the autobahn, see what a twin turbo manual can really do!!!!

If your going on a driving holiday... you gotta take the z...

no point going otherwise.....

We took a z to Le mans and its a brilliant car to live with...

I must have missed you - I never saw another ZX all week......

.......anyway back to your clutch question - no; but then I have an auto :p

Where did you stay mate - I was in a hotel in Borrowdale, not far from the south-eastern edge of Derwentwater.

Incidentally, and no-one will believe me here, but I saw an octopus (it was dead) in lake Derwentwater - honest! We hired a motor cruiser for a couple of hours one day; I turned back at what I thought was a buoy and Julia said "That was an octopus." I though that rubbish as octopii are salt water creatures and the lakes are fresh.......

.......but I turned round and went back for a second look and sure enough it was a small dead, pinkish coloured octopus - about 70cm long including tentacles

Opposite ends then, I was somewhere between Broughton-in-furness and High Nibthwaite

I saw loads of zeds that week, true that was probably because I went back down to nottingham for the AGM
