Hi, you may remember me, I bought a few bits from you including some 555cc injectors.

I have been having no end of problems ever since I fitted the things.

One dosnt work, period, and at least one has a poor pattern so is next to useless. I am looking at at least £100.00 to get them serviced.

On top of that, you promised to send the new O rings, which you didnt.

This is on top of you telling me, and every one else that it was a Fidanza flywheel, which I doubt it is. And yes I know we discussed this but so far the ECU is the only thing I bought which I dont have issues with, but then I have not been able to drive my car since fitting your stuff.

Why has it taken me so long to PM you? Because I could not remember who you were, and only found you today. I tried to PM you to keep it private but you will not accept PM's

1 -Tubz. First, he is at fault, period.

Tune? Why, what state was my engine in in the first place? You dont know. Maybe it was perfect, as it happens it ran really well, it had just had a new cam belt etc, new plugs etc etc. So, lets re tune an engine allready IN TUNE.

2 - Re-set the ECU, I fitted another ECU with a JD chip, but both ECU'S gave the same problem. And the JD one had been without power for months, maybe I need to disconnect the battery for another year or two. So NO IT WILL NOT solve my poor running. Maybe I should try some more O rings?

3 -And last, new O rings are a good idea, and I would not go through all the bother without fitting them, BUT, a perfectly good second hand O ring is just that, perfectly good.

1- By tune i meant Injectors need to be re-mapped - did you have 555c in there before??

2- See 1 above.

3 - Second hand is NOT good as new. Not sure, as i've never done the Z. However, they must be torqued up??...and in my opinion need replacing as a precaution each time an injector is removed....

Mark with all due respect your initial post was a bit vague...It reads like your pi55ed off because the guy never sent some o rings!! Or is that just me??...I've obviously touched a nerve....sorry for that.

However, You also said 'suspect poor pattern' in your vague post - I read this as suspect mapping?? So re-map (re-tune) was my suggestion. But i'd have also tested second hand injectors before they went in?? They might have been gathering dust and rusting in the time you've had to be honest, how do i know? I don't know Mark, but i do know he broke his car in March/April though, which is also what i based my Judgement on.

All i'm trying to say is...Did you really expect a set of 'second hand' injectors to run perfect staright from one car to another?!!! Even...when they've been pulled from a breaker car?? They should have been tested before you put them in....and servicing them was the opportunity cost of the saving you made against buying new ones...

You took a chance with s/hand, and another chance putting them in before testing and it didn't work out...I feel for you bud. But, £100 to service them...I spend that driving to a garage to change my oil on my Z..... Horses for courses... :duffer:

best of luck,

TubZ.

PS. I am not the most knowledgeable around a Z, but like to think i've got some common sense nouse when it comes to swapping certain parts...I'm also quite a nice guy when you know me....In fact I'll buy you a NEW set of o rings if i upset you that much!!

Ok Tubz, I am a bit touchy over this, and I may have been a bit short, however in answer:

1) I accept thats what you meant, but it is not what you said. New ECU with JD chip mapped for 555's installed with injectors, however the faults would not be affected one way or the other by the ECU.

2) See 1) above.

3) Many people sell, and buy S/H injectors on this forum, a good second hand injector should be what it says. The O rings issue was simply the last straw. Poor pattern refers to the spray pattern of the injector, is the shape of the spray, ok?

Should I have had them checked? Yes, more fool me for trusting the guy. But if you MUST spend £150.00 (by thye time they are posted etc etc) on top of the cost in the first place you may as well buy new ones and be safe. Which I have now done.

TBH removing the plenum is such a pain the cost of new injectors is insignificant. Almost.

So, to try and end this thread, I am sorry for being short, maybe will meet one day,

:-), and if I was as clever then, as I am now about injectors there is no way I would do the same thing.

Maybe we should hire a boxing ring for Z008 :D

No worries Mark will catch up for a beer at some point i'm sure

Duffer - Great idea!! I've got bigger fish to fry than anyone like Mark though...I would pay for the ring myself if i could get mr 'baggins' in there for 3 minutes with me...still biting my tongue thus far, but I can't wait till i find him......

"I've got bigger fish to fry than anyone like Mark though" Not sure if I should be pleased or insulted. Lol

Only rich people have them, I have a muddy ditch at the bottom of the garden, but the water gets changed once a year when it snows.

Get some basking shark in there - they clean the water up nicely :D

I 've also found it can be real trcky when you buy used bits described as "perfect ".Happened to me when I bought second hand uprated tubs and power guage earlier this year;seller thought that they were great, whereas the power guage is now being replaced (because it never worked)and the tubs needed work doing to them so it was incredibly frustrating and a real double bind..caused a real bad feeling between me and the seller as i worked a way around the problem..however;dust settles eventually and now I hold no animosity towards the seller ..As he said at the time the items were working on the car....However I DO reckon that when selling used goods If the goods turn out to be defective on professional install and it can be proven then the seller ,should expect the buyer to ask for some small compensation

I don't mean to highjack your thread Mark, just can't resist saying one or two things on the above being used as an example.

Hi Richie, how is it going? regarding my dealings with you, I doubt if it fits the same senario here.

1st, I still maintain those tubs works perfect in my car and it was inspected by both of us before you left my flat. When you rang to say your mechanic query the left bank tub, I told you to return the tubs and have your money back - is this right or wrong? Also this mech has never work on PE tubs before more so he is a Merc mechanic - no disrespect but even Nissan trainned mech find 300ZX TT hard to work on..... If i wasn't at the garage when the tubs were being separated from the engine, I would have said maybe my mech damage the tubs, besides my mech knows how much they cost - as he was after one for his car as well.

2nd, I never wantted to sell you my boost controller, only did so so you could enjoy the tub as I thought at the time I would lay off 300ZX for some time to recover from the shock of loosing the car. I remember the initial problem was that the mech didn't know how to set the boost controller. After I went through how to set it with you on one of our many conversations, you confirmed to me that the boost controller was then working only to read about it now that it never worked. Ah you never paid for it neither.

I hold no animosities either. I thinks there are two members here that were not happy with their items parted from the car and refunds were made.

You're a right about fustrations when things like this happen but they do happen even with new items but communication is the key. Like my mother always say we are like a river, you never know where our path may cross or meet.

I think that there should be some sort of "Code" on this forum, something that sets out some basic rules that the buyer expects from the seller and vice versa.

BUT, do I expect it to happen? Nope......

Finally got my car going, using some borrowed new O rings. Car runs nicely again, only thing changed were the six injectors, nothing else...

The End

So, good secondhand was not as good as new afterall then!

The bigger fish was not meant as an insult.....I speant 5.8k and i'm still trying to get my issues sorted! I hope in my case the river crosses the path i want it to sooner rather than later....

Are you gonna give them back when you've finished with them then Mark? :D
