Car is from Japan, imported in 2003, is there a way to tell if the cam belt has been done or not? I know it will need the 60K mile service soon anyway, and they do it then, but why waste the money if its already been done (will have rest of service anyway).

Mickey at ZworX is working on it on Friday, replacing the auto box, will he be able to tell?

Cheers Folks!

Can't see how mate!-can only tell by little signs like the w/pump being new,the 2 hoses above it look in reasonable nick etc.

TBH,the only way to tell is to change it,piece of mind and all that! ;)

IIRC around £3-400 in parts for a 60k service!

suppose a good mechanic can tell on the condition of the belt, but if theres any un certainity it worth getting it done anyway

Just "scoured" the net, and read on this site http://www.troublecodes.net/tbelt/nissantb.shtml that it only needs doing every 105,000 miles?? Is this complete drivel or does the site speak truth!!!

25) - On early 1993 & prior models, replace at 60,000 mile intervals. On late 1993 & later models less turbo, replace at 105,000 mile intervals. On late 1993 & later models with turbo, replace at 60,000 mile intervals.

;) read again

60k or 5 years whichever comes sooner - no arguements
