How's about arranging a big get-together for everyone for april-may next year? Do it now and no one has an excuse not to attend. It was a real shame we had such a small turn-out at zedfest but those that went will know how good it was to meet up with other forum members and actually meet them face to face ;)

I think Billing Aquadrome would be a *reasonably* central venue but any other suggestions are welcome?

Cheers,

Andy

Just get someone to tip it over while you're in it
You'd need some big strong lads to tip one over while I was in it, I probably wouldnt get through the door anyway.

you can hire the field and hall beside the loos so wouldn't be so far to walk - and if you go for April you would have somewhere inside to go and keep warm!

I'm sure Derek will let you know whats available

Ah deffo worth considering then! Would they allow us to have some form of bar in there? That would need a license though I guess.

Cheers for the input its appreciated :)

they need to have a premises license being a scout camp they might not have one :( they might have one but just not have a bar area, but that means we would be able to set up our own one, which i would guess is what they do when they have functions like wedding and stuff (if they do that sort of thing)

So what's the crack with beer tents at events then? Just intrigued more than anything :)

Cheers,

Andy

I could come along.

Sort out any trouble makers, show you all how to drink etc etc.

I'll give the snooty scout woman something to hang her towels on too. ;)

outside bar companies can get you the licence but most outside events can only get a licence til midnight - but then you would have to pay thier prices!!!

If you have a member that owns a pub they will be able to get you a licence for the weekend (for a beer tent or for the scouts hut)

OR - if the club buys the beer in and "gives" it away then you don't need a licence. But you can always ask for donation towards the club but thats not buying beer so no licence

Can You Not Sell Raffle Tickets, Then Exchange Them For Beer ?

don't see why not - sort of every ticket wins a prize

Looks like we got the beer aspect sorted then :D Now what entertainment do people want? :D

IMO, Its easier and less hastle for everyone to take there own beer/wine/babycham etc.

Only reason I suggested it would be to keep the beer cold - nothing worse than warm beer, or babycham in your case Rich  ;)

In your case Andy, keep it outside of the tent over night, then it will be nice and cold for when you start drinking again at breakfast! ;)

You can sell paper tickets for money and exchange tickets for alcohole at the bar, 2 tokens a pint 3 tokens a vod and coke etc

Well no reply from Brenda so far, maybe telling her we were sister sites with the burberry appreciation society didn't go down too well........

(jk) ;)

I am not aware of any unpleasant scout lady at Calverton. If you would like to explain please pm me on the z club site.

I have not been told by the Camp warden of any complaints made about us over the weekend.

It was nothing major Derek, she just made Sarah walk through the nettles to go for a wizz instead of walking through the scout event

If you are interested in Calverton as a venue please phone me on 01623-794048 any evening and I will give you the current prices.

You can hire the buildings, some accomodation and various other facilities at very reasonable prices. You must bear in mind that booking need to be made early and that the local scout groups have priority.

It is possible to hire a bar from local pubs but this is not cheap and you may be better off providing your own booze.

If using the barn or hall then bands/disco are permitted. (DJZ60 on the z club site is very good).
