The Skyline because Ferarri red is crap. Part for RX-7 will probably cost more ? -because it's a rare rotary engine.

Depends on how good a mechanic you are - RX-7's need a rebuildt engine every 30 - 60K miles oh and when the engines goes about 7-% of the time it takes the turbos with them.

 

Mazda dealers charge the earth to look at them and there are only 3 specialists in the UK - who are in competition for SE with their Lead times !

 

Skylines are similar to the Z scene appart from stronger and easier to work on ! A lot more power potential too !

That's was what I was saying about RX-7's, but apparently Phil says you can get a rebuilt engine on one for £1000!

 

Leigh, It depends on how you look at it.

If you want to recoupe some wonga then you have to sell the Skyline. On the other hand if you just want to sell one i'd sell the Mazda.

 

Both lovely cars it depends on your needs.

Rick, didn't you look at those links I put up yesterday? Rebuilt engines are much, much cheaper then on say a Z from the older RX-7's to the 3rd Gen and removal and fitting charges kick the piss out of having a Z engine done!

 

I should think Mazda are no different from any other main dealer when it comes to anything out of the norm and to be honest I would say there are no more than 3 so called specialists for Z's countrywide either! LMFAO Hiteq, Middlehurst and SE are the only ones worth mentioning.

Sell 'em both and get a proper car

 

As much as I love RX-7s I would have to go with the Skyline. However I bet you will spend a lot more on it than you would the Mazda.....

Yeah sorry i was on hols yesterday

 

A rebuild for 1000 pounds is very optimistic - again information i think got twisted down the tree somewhere - now as with all engines you can just replace the odd but that goes if you have a freak accident inside the engine - say a coolant seal or the like which you could just replace for under 1000. A full rebuild kit - parts only - cost 1200 dollars from the states and then you have the labout to get the engine out and strip it.

 

Yes it is a shit load easier than a VG30 - but still costly!

 

And the point of rebuilding two turbo chargers At abour 500 quid min each !

 

The RX7 FD is a lovely car but You have to love mechanics or have a lot of money to run one. Considerably more costly than the Z and not one for the daily driver crew out there !

 

Oh yeah which brings me onto the point of insurance and petrol - Insurance on my Z is about 600 quid insurance on my FD is 1200 quid and Petrol goes like it grows on trees !

Nice Idea Matty, but sell the 300ZX, and gives us a call. The car arrives August so you have time to put the wheels in motion.
