New headunit gets interfearance when a disc is playing...???

Just installed my new lcd touch screen dvd player and it works mint, except for when a disc is playing and the headlights/sidelights are on, as when i begin to drive i get interferance through the speakers as a whistle which is consistant with the engine speed.

 

The interferance goes when the disc stops playing or the headlights are switched off...

 

whats going on and how do i fix this problem???

    my money is a poo earth on the head unit, or an external amp if you have one. very, very common.
