Do Halfrauds or most motor factors sell this?

Gonna replace gearbox oil and this is recommended

gearbox is getting noisy and gear changes seem slow, so hopefully this will sort it

Anyone know how much I will need?

Featured Replies

Not many places sell it.

I got mine from Demon Tweeks.

Not sure on the quantity but I think I had to get 5 or 6 bottles (might be wrong there!)

Camskills is where I always order mine from.If its a manwell you need to buy 4 litrs but you only need 3.1 fast delivery as well.

Each bottle is 1 quart, which equals exactly 0.94635295 litres. You will need 4 bottles driftworks sell it for £14 per bottle i dont know if thats cheaper than demontweeks or not .You will need a syringe pump to fill as well because the bottle have no pipe atached. An a half inch drive breaker bar to undo bung.

cheers

is it worth doing you think?

or just normal hypoid gear oil.

To be honest if the syncros are good no 4th 5th crunch .I would stick silkolene fully sinth gear oil in see oilmans site.

no crunch

just real noisy when sat still - depress clutch and it goes quiet

I thought at first it could be thrust bearing but I thought when pedal was pressed clutch bearing made noise coz that when it engages.

that coupled with a whinny sorta noise when accelerating.

and slow gear changes - you have to wait a second before snicking it in.

Either Demon Tweeks or here -

scuse my ignorance here

has car got to be level when I remove bung?

Should engine be warm to warm the old oil and ease it out.

is the bung directly under gearbox?

I just chuck in 4 litres of either mt90 or silkolene.

whats that - about 30 min job?

Cheers

If your worried about your box drop the old oil through a rag and check for metal.I rebuild 16speed gearboxes at work regularly and any box thats on its way out will let you know by the condition of its oil.the noise youve described could still be the release bearing, but if it is internal and the noise is still there at tickover it would indicate first motion shaft or layshaft bearings.
