I'm needing some new wheels.

At the moment the tyres are 225/55/16.

If i were to look for some larger alloys (17 or 18 maybe) what would i need to look for? Is there a code? I see things such as "Stud" and "J#" but i'm not sure what these mean.

Thanks

you would obviously need a 5 stud which are 114.3 pdc. the "j" is the width of the wheel in inches, so 7j is 7inch ect. i have some in the for sale section which are 17" x 8j if interested. there is also a pic of them on a zed.

IMHO, some 19" rims look good if you get the style right. Otherwise, I'd say 18" is the best size for them.

I'd ALWAYS go for dished/staggered rims. Gives a more aggressive look/stance. A 9.5 - 10J rear with an 8.5j front is nicest. Check the offset is correct though and also PCD.

Nice wheels, but i'm in London so a fair old way away for pickup. Also, i'm hoping to get ones with 4 good tyres already on.

Si,

I'm getting the impression that i can go for various J measurements then.

I guess my main concern is that i'm getting something that will definitely fit straight on to my Z. Are all wheels universal fitment then? Or do i need to be looking for a specific fitment for it? And if so, what code should i be looking for?

yeah. it is a fair trek. the set of 19`s i have at home i had to pick up from windsor.

Defiantly not hence why I suggested checking the PCD. You need to make sure that it's 5 x 114mm and has a centrebore of about 66mm. If larger, make sure you get spigot rings, if small, wheel will not mate to hub.

Offset needs to be around 34 at the front and 42 at the rear. But that changes somewhat when you fit wider wheels anyway. A wheel specialist will know what you'll require.

Alternatively, buy rims that are suggested as fitting the 300zx. There are quite a few nice deep dish rims on ebay which are stated as being 300zx fitment.

Ah sorry Mario, rereading your first post, i see that you've already answered my Q. I'm after 5stud 114.3 pdc, fine.

sorry dave. it was meant to say 5 stud 114.3, pdc 42 which is what the bk ones are, but have 255s on rear and 225/235 on fronts. as SI says though, pdc can vary with different widths, so be careful.

OK now i'm really confused!

Basically, the story is that i need 4 new tyres. I'm thinking that i may well be able to get some second hand 17s or 18s with 4 good tyres for not much more than the price of 4 new tyres. And then of course i could sell my current alloys for something.

Would anyone mind taking a look at these:

18s on Ebay

OK so they're on a Civic at the mo... but i like the style. Would they fit?

they would fit, but not really wide enough for the zed. most have at least 225s on the fronts, larger on rears.

Cheers Gumball.

So only 114.3 will fit? Not 114? Or do people just list as 114 for the sake of speed?

I'm liking these ones at 10J:

10J 17s

Any good?

(Hope people don't mind me posting all these links)

Check out the maximum off-set (ET) on that table mate.. These wheels exceed that.. You are best sticking somewhere around 35-42 ET Off-Set.. The nearer 35 you can get, the better, to clear the zed's big front calipers, otherwise you will require spacers on some wheels (Skyline wheels for example).

OK understand.

Is there any leeway on the C/B of 66?
