just wondering as i'm about to go through the same thing. Be honest, do you miss the auto? in other words if you had enough dosh would you keep getting your autobox fixed? I reckon i'm going to miss that smooth 0-100mph kick you just don't get with a manwell

you know you want it. it feels more like a car. i feel you have more control over it. i know i am biast, but manuals are the best!!!

Mines an auto but to be honest if the box went again it would be a manual conversion...

Drove my mates car ( manual ) and its sooooo much better.. only time the auto would be better is when your stuck in traffic

IMHO -

Auto 300zx = Grand Tourer

Manual 300zx = Sports car

It makes such a difference!

I'd never even consider going to an auto again. It makes sense if all you use the car is for going to work in traffic, but for any kind of performance or fun driving the manual gearbox is obligatory :)

i think it's down to the driver imo... manuel's are better for the track (not always as we found out at the Nurburgring)...

Auto zed's have a better top speed ..!!!!

Royal: i can "drift" an Auto just as well as a Manuel...but you knew that

wozza ...

..

I went for a drive in the purple auto the other day and i have to say i do really miss it.

I've always been a grand tourer kind of guy mainly down to the long distances i do in my zeds and the new one is really tiring to drive long distance and especially in town.

Given the choice i'd have both, the manual for the track and auto for day to day.

i love my auto and wont ever change it :) .

after 15yrs of trucking and the millions of gear changes ive done, havin an auto is just pure heaven.

oh and if i want a burn around i just jump in the mrs skyline  .

best of both worlds i think so im a happy bunny  .

cheers garry

Only ever miss the auto box when in heavy rush hour traffic round London ,Birmingham or any big city. I know Dublin has got very busy to what it used to be, but round your neck of the woods you'll be so glad you changed to manual.

I promise.

auto and i love it !!!!!!! ive had a manwell and its so much better to press and go, i can even state point to point my auto,s faster

see your point there definitely. I spent 10 years in sales, not a nice cushy company car though, vans and small trucks doing massive mileage under pressure, that's why I really have a soft spot for auto's. One big pain though is people who say "love that car , pity about the automatic". I've tried explaining to people that it's not what you think, the auto's as quick as the manual and i've got the luxury of driving in traffic and all that but it makes no difference.

can't wait to decide for myself. :)

HERE HERE MY MAN.

why do people say oh its an auto  .

each to there own i suppose but i do love my auto for as u say its easy in traffic and u just press and yr gone, how simple can a car be.

cheers garry :)

drive one of each and then decide for yourself LOL I dont mind either but the manual cars are easier to control and feel alot quicker tbh

My manual has been off the road a fair bit this year for various works, during that time i've been driving my other Z which is a jap Auto and man i like it  TBH if someone offered me a crazy price on the Black Z (manual) I'd keep the auto, she's soooo easy to drive :)

Oh and i've tried selling me auto and everyone says "oh it's an auto" as if it had the bleedin plague! if only they knew, lol

smithy

I get this as well, "oh its an auto" lol

I took a couple of people out in it the other day to show them what "an auto" can do... soon shut them up...

All that does my head in about it is inability to stay in gear, cant put your foot down and use the torque like you can in a manual, it changes down makes loads of noise and uses all the fuel in texas.... Grrr

When i bought my auto i wondered if i did the right thing, with having a few "normal " auto's in the past, but i was shocked and greatly suprised with the way a zed auto drives.I wanted a manwel but at the time i couldnt find one locally. Only selling her for the need of a bigger car .
