My key, black one (only one I have) will not open the boot but works fine with the ignition and doors. This makes me think it might be the wrong key instead of a broken boot lock.

Can a UK dealer cut me a key that will open everything?

Featured Replies

the black key should work in every lock unless the lock has been changed. Ur luckky, we only have the valet key frown.gif. Whats wrong with the boot anyway? Will it just not turn at all? Have you tried spraying loads of WD40 in the lock?

I got a spare cut at Timsons

The boot lock sometimes comes a little loose. Pull the key out slighty when you turn it. Happens to mine ever now and then.

Nissan say they can cut keys while you wait.

I will try some cleaning the lock and pulling out a little when turning. Are the UK dealers able to cut a key without having one to copy?

Having locked myself out of my Z on 3 separate occasions (short stories but mind numbingly stupid, hence no explaining), I happen to know there is a four digit number on the key's that Nissan(Arse!) use to cut spares. It is at the very top of the key just before the plastic starts. Give this number to the Nissan(Arse!) Parts Dept of your local Nissan(Arse!) Dealer and they should be able to cut a new one for you. Should cost about a fiver.

I only have the Red (Valet?) key but it seems to open everything....

I got a spare key cut from a little shop in Crystal Palace. Cost about £3ish, works fine. It was a normal key cutting/shoe repair shop.
