Got my car back last night after leaving it with Jimmer for the last 3 weeks for him to do a full engine rebuild. I just want to thank him for doing such a top class job on my car and making sure everything was done to the highest possible standard. There probably wasn't a day went by that he didn't call to let me know about progress or that other parts looked worn and could do with replacing.

Of course this rebuild could of been of totally been avoided if the replacement engine and turbos I had changed less than 1000 miles ago were fitted properly. Needless to say I've learned my lesson the hard way like a few other people on the forum.

Anyhoo here's what was done -

The block was rebored too take 87.5mm forged pistons & the cylinder heads were skimmed with valve seats recut & lapped in. All crank journals & internals were polished. New main rod & big end bearings were fitted. All seals & gaskets/copper washers renewed. New Nissan cambelt with SKF cambelt idler bearings fitted. 550 Injectors fitted with Nissan injector seals. All corroded injector plugs replaced with new & spliced into loom. New short water hoses fitted supplying both turbocharger & thermostat housings. Breather hoses replaced along with new PCV valves & new VTC solenoid springs :)

Excellent news Glenn! Glad you've got it back and can actually drive it now!! Shame you had to go through it all, but I am sure the car is better now than it's ever been.

Agree, Jimmer takes pride in his work :)

Was there any warranty/offer of recompense from those that fitted the last engine?

Good to see a happy ending mate :) are you able to say what went wrong that resulted in the 2nd build ?

Jimmer is certainly getting a good name for himself here too which is really good to see too :)

Right if you want to bring this out in the open instead of stupid remarks do it !

Firstly and foremost I have never been told of any problems by Glenn until this, if this is about us !

If there was problems in the fitting Glenn i apologies but you are aware that I worked til 4am in the morning to finish your car off and bring it to the meet the next day for you as when i told you it wouldn't be ready and you got upset.

Secondly from the moment i dropped it off until now i have had no contact from you in regards to problems except asking for different parts that other people were fitting !

When i dropped the car off to you after working all night on it i told you we needed it back inside a month to look over check everything and to carry out an oil change etc. I have never had the car back in or heard any problems except the wrong battery which as soon as John came down he was given a replacement !

If there was a problem it would of been nice to have known about it instead of funky si and various people making comments.

YET AGAIN Paul you pick up on something I've said. I've not highlighting you or anyone you know, you're doing that. So take it up with someone else erh? All I asked if there was warranty cover on the original engine AND that there were a long list of deficiencies which there were regardless of who it WAS AND WASN'T done by.

Does anyone have contact details for jimmer?

Was just looking at the above, but think maybe ill speak to the guy who did this engine last. does anyone know if he does normal servicing and full fluid changes?

Good to know that some people actually do the work in the time stated. Sounds like you are having the same build as me more or less, I'm jealous it's taken three weeks for you to get your car back.

Hats off to Jimmer.

Simon you know fair well why i have stated you as the person making the comments. I have spoken to jimmer direct and if glenn has any issues he knows my number and is more than welcome to contact me and he should know that !

You already know any answers to questions you are posting as you are in close contact with jimmer and Glenn so the only possible reason you are asking is to cause trouble.

if you wanted to get hold of him - I'd suggest paying your membership and pmng him! :duffer:

No I don't know those answers Paul which is WHY I ASKED! I am not trying to cause trouble because as I've said, I have not mentioned any names!!! I don't speak to Glenn on a regular basis either. Last time I spoke to him was a few weeks ago. I asked a perfectly legitimate an honourable question.

Anyway, end of arguments. Don't want this to continue as it's no good for anyone. :)

Very tidy. What sort of price bracket (Nearest thousand) does that sort of rebuild cost?

if you wanted to get hold of him - I'd suggest paying your membership and pmng him! :duffer:

so i get no replies to questions asked, and i need to PAY to obtain a number, so i can spend my money?

Thanks for that, but i guess jimmer will not be getting my custom if i have to pay to give my trade

Im sorry but this thread is not for you to contact Jimmer !

if you want him post a post asking him for his contact details yourself !

unfortunately jimmer is not a subscribed trader, as good as he may be, he cant benefit from the club as a trader, we have subscribed traders who pay their money to advertise and trade on this forum

hope this clears up any confusion hedgehogz

back to topic now guys or this thread will have to be moderated (sorry, but rules are rules)

Allan

Im sorry but this thread is not for you to contact Jimmer !

I'm sorry.

I thought this thread was about jimmer, and his rebuilding this engine.

is it always like this on here

from a guy who has just joined, in 7 posts, ive struggled for help, been told i have to pay to get a phone number which now apears isnt on here anyway and been told to not ask for a number in a thread.

not welcoming is it

Its not allways like it mate, This thread went a little heated which unfortunatley wasnt your concern but youve been dealt with a little shortly.

Reply with your mobile/house number and i will private message Jimmer for you.

What stellaZ was saying above is that there are traders on the forum which means there is help if needed from members on here is anything was to go wrong. As Jimmer isnt a trader you will be deling privatly with him which will be nothing to do with the forum. Hope that makes it clearer.

You should subscribe aswell as it goes toward the upkeep of the forum, meets throughout the year and a membership pack. It also opens up being able to private message people yourself and much more.

Hope that helps mate and like i said give me your number and ill whack it across to jimmer for you.

thanks spongey. at least i now also know why i cant pm ha ha ha

I have managed though to get the contact details, but thank you for taking the time to explain

not getting at you wayne, but what i was trying to say was, what if you placed an add in autotrader to sel your car, then someone comes alongs and sticks his for sale add on the end of yours for free you would be pissed, then the sale goes wrong and the buyer starts to blame autotrader

ireally hope you enjoy the forum hedgehogz, maybe you have just stumbled upon a couple of threads at the wrong time

again-wayne, i was picking at you bud

thanks again

Allan

but remember, you will have no help from the forum comittee if something goes wrong, also if he aint set up as a business, even trading standards wont help, not trying to discredit jimmer im sure he is a good mechanic, but things do sometimes go wrong

thanks

allan

Hedge - Your welcome mate, hope you enjoy the forum fella.

StellaZ - I get what you mean (I think) understood mate.

I mean this with absolutely no offence to anyone here at all

but, i have been reading your forums for a few days since joining.

every mechanic in my area that is on here, has recent (i mean last few days) posts about people in trouble.

waiting for cars, rebuilds needed after one etc.

the only person i have seen so far is this guy (there maybe problems not posted im aware of that)

so please forgive me as a new guy, but where would you think id go ?

im not really sure what the help from the forum bit means to be honest, but did any of the people with cars stuck somewhere they dont know, or the guy here with a new engine get any help? or money back etc? because if they did for being part of here, then your darn right, i will join as that is fantastic for a club

no one is stopping you from going to him - but as far as advertising his job rebuilding engines, servicing or whatever it is is against the rules unless he is an authorised trader of the forum.

its not fair on the traders who have had to pay to become traders and someone who hasnt comes along and takes all the business. They pay to advertise, why cant everyone else.

if you wanted to contact jimmer, why dont you put a f.a.o Jimmer thread up and hope he gets hold of you :)
