took my car to be dyno today came back with 385.8 bhp at the flyweel its running 0.95 bar boost got a hks intercooler the guys at this place were saying that the turbos seemed to take a long time to spool up giving them the impression that the turbos have either been modified or replaced with larger ones , they also said that standard turbos tend to lose guts approaching 15 psi but they said that mine seemed very strong going up to it . is it possible to produce that kind of bhp with standard tubbies ???? and what sort of bhp would you expect to get from standard turbos running 14 psi ????

giant slayer got 333bhp at 14psi on standard tubs at the weekend. Must have uprated ones for 385?? intercooler would only make a few hp surely

i remember pj ran his car way past recomended injector duty cycles @17psi and made 360fwhp off the top of my head

best result iv seen on stock turbos with basic mods is 380 warm day though so pehaps room for more.

My last Dyno in Feb '07 produced 407FWHP and 338RWHP,

394 ft/lb torque with stock engine and tubs

I was running:

14.5psi with Profec B Boost Controller

SE Chip

Blitz Induction

Divorced downpipes

De-Catt

Mongoose exhaust

Pace Intercoolers

Lightened under drive pulley

I say you've definitely got bigger tubbies on there fella

Mine are definitely stock...honest!

Does anyone know the most you can push standard injectors, I have it running 14psi (ish) at the moment but every now and then 17psi pops up, I have custom intake, zaust, and r33 wmic's.

Need to pull the top end apart for a noisey tappet but when its sorted 17psi sounds like a plan.

Good result on the dyno :D

I would say, at 17psi, your injectors will already have maxed out.

also the reason for me and the guys at the dyno place thinking that they may be uprated or replaced is 1. The delay before boost arrives its about 4000rpm before it starts to boost 2. when it does begin to boost its very aggresive and 3. they said that on standard tubbies the boost would tend to strugle at the top end i.e 14psi where as on the graph it shows that they are boosting very strong at 14psi and he said they seem to have a lot more in them as the boost up was not struggling at all would anything else cause a delay of boost till 4000rpm ???

Looking at the upgrade kits anything other than direct replacements (and they would boost early) would need some sort of work to make them fit, ie removing metal from the engine mount, smaller t25 type with roller bearings would boost well before 4k, above would be into 2t8 and disco potato territory ?

15psi = 100% duty cycle,

Injector manufacturers recommend only going to 80% duty cycle, as above that point doasge becomes unreliable!

Dynos vary a lot in what figures they dish out, the main things to consider are, is there anything wrong with your car, do you enjoy driving it and are you happy with risk benefit balance on how you have tuned your car!

Ye id say standard tubs, exhaust, induction, chip, boost 14psi around 360bhp
yep :) basicly my spec and i got 359.3 bhp 325ilbs of torque on the rollers

Definitely, just look at the results in the section marked DYNO results, the differences in some of the figures lead you to believe that these rolling roads are not all running to the same spec.

I was referring to Jimzx's car.

i hit 388bhp and 366 torque on stock tubs, although i do have full decat /devorce pipes, bigger inters and a Devin Chip

mine is running 370 bhp on standard mods, adding a ud pulley to hopefully push me closer to 400bhp

4" Back Boxes

Earthing kit

Colder spark plugs

Decatt and straight through exhaust

Turbo xs Blow off valves

Apexi Induction Filter

Andy P chip

Boost controller

so guys what would cause the turbos to lag till 4000 rpm ??? only thing i can think of is exhaust gas leakage betwwen the turbo and manifold ??? but wouldnt it have to be quite a serious leak to delay it to 4000 rpm ??? or teach me something i dont know is there anything else that could cause the delay??? i mean if they were knackered they wouldnt boost would they?? or they would smoke or wine at the least ???

How much experience do the dyno guys have with 300's as the stock turbos will boost way past 14 with ease?

Do you have an air fuel print out with the dyno?

ud wont make an extra 30hp matey, all it will produce is less ethergy at the crank so you may make a couple of ponies at the flywheel.

Underdrive pulley suppliers claim that for every pound you take off the crank, you'll see a 2.5bhp increase on the 300ZX. The lightened pulley is 9lbs lighter than the stock pulley.

This is not my claim, it's only what I've read.

I doubt the figures they quote are likely to be a bit over enthusiastic, its unlikely that they give you any more power than what you already due to weight loss, lightened flywheels don't advertise huge power increases just quicker revs, it may just help you get it slightly earlier, your more likely to get a bit extra from the fact the accessories driven by it are not been driven as fast.

I put one on just in case it gives me an extra 2 horses i never had before, hell have you seen the size of horses its got to be worth taking a chance
