Hi everybody,

Got a little problem you maybe able to help with. When I accelarate the boost goes to almost +7 so boost is good. Then as it picks up power drops, boost stays the same but I get a loud hissing.

I know that I've got an after Turbo leak but having only had a quick look I can't see anything obvious. Is there a particular pipe or weakness where the pressurized air escapes. Or is it just a case of looking to find it!!!!

The hiss is meant to happen , as I was relieved to discover when I first got mine , mate . :p

It`s the recirc.valves . Someone more techie will doubtless be along in a bit to go into more detail for ya .

Slowhand is right the noise is the recirc valves. Have a look at the intake manifold you will see a small pipe that runs to it from the recirc valve which put's the excess boost pressure back into the inlet. Hence the term recirc!!!

You might have a split in this pipe

+7? Sounds like its on safety boost...

Stock boost is 9.8 psi so it should at very least get past the 7 psi mark... even on the stock boost guage.

As for power dropping... not sure why that is! Could be any number of reasons. Try and see if there are any error codes in the ECU

the +7 is the j-spec gauge bud which is 9.95psi ;)

actually bud

700 mm Hg = 13.5357423 pounds per square inch

but then we all know how woefully inaccurate the stock gauge is...

no, you should'nt get any loud hissing ! - this would indicate a boost leak. There is a boost leak detector available but the other option is to manually check all the boost and vacumn pipes for splits.

FOUND IT!!! Hose clip loose on one of the pipes from one of the intercoolers, pipe had slid back. Made a seal until boost got too much then popped back hence the hissing.

Spent a couple of hours checking vac pipes, recirc valves etc still at least I know they all ok.

thanks for replies.
