I've found a broken manual z not too far away . Only thing is it's n/a.

If it does suit and i need other parts for the convertion would it make it messy, should i just hold out till I find a tt box?

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

hey chewie

The transmission model is RS5R30A.

The 300ZX model is the same for both the NA and TT, but Nissan relocated the starter in the TT, and changed the outer and inner front cases.

indeed, i believe you have to grind out part of the bell housing and space out the starter motor to fit it... ultimately you can fit an n/a box to a tt but not without modifications. it has been discussed previously and there are threads with the exact modifications required for the job... do a search and see what you come up with

cheers guys, i've done a search but i've found nothing specific. Some do mention the bell housing is different, and theres something about the clutch pedal not being suitable, but for a mechanical dunce like me i need someone to say ok you've got your donor car and here's the other parts you'll need....then I can sort out the parts and let the mechanic sort it out.

You have to grind out the inside of the bellhousing slightly, do some slight mods on the starter motor and the clutch is slightly heavier but nobody has ever really complained!

you can fit some small washers to space the starter out a fraction so it does not eat the ring gear.

and if you go to the trouble and find a clutch booster and TT pedal then you can have lightness ;)
