Luckily my house isn't on a flood plain as it's on raised banks of a tidal estuary. But since a huge portion of Gloucestershire and the west midlands is now under flood water or on flood alert, has anyone here been badly affect?

Might be if they are at work. Not a lot you can do when the house is flooded. You just have to wait until the water's receded. Most people still have to make a living.

im in good old Norwich :)

never floods, also live on a hill, pity the poor fookers at the bottom if it does flood tho ;)

well half a dozen house's in my village got a 2ft deep soaking on friday (all drained off now)...and the school which is next door sent the kids home because all the drains and downpipes burst sending a couple of inches over all the ground floor....my garden was about 4 inches underwater for most of friday n saturday none got in the house glad to say

Not so much flooded but on my jaunt to cornwall on Friday set off from Doncaster at 14.30. pm arrived at st.Austell at 08.30.am Saturday and can now say that ive slept on the 3rd lane of the M 5 just above junction 9 . On a more serious note We have had bad floods around Doncaster but the scale of it through the midlands is terrible .hope anyone living in this area is ok.On a more personal note with all the flooding the M5 was very quiet on Sunday and got home in under 5 hours

I live in the Midlands (Warwickshire) and it's been very bad indeed since Friday afternoon.

I drove to Sutton Coldfield in the morning to drop off a HKS exhaust and it wasn't too bad yet - lots of standing water on the M42/M6 but copable with. On my return it was already a lot worse and took me a lot longer to get home than normal. Spent a lot of time driving up the wrong side of the road to avoid deep standing water. Bad thing was that I was in my Zed and bricking it that the filter/maf got wet. I must say that I got very lucky and made it home in one piece. That's more than can be said for a lot of other people around our village. On Saturday I took a short walk to survey the flooding and was astounded by the amount of abandoned cars - even 4x4's were stranded around here! On Sunday most of the roads had dried out sufficiently to make a reasonable journey. At one point we passed over a bridge near Evesham (on the A46 by-pass) and were absolutely amazed at the level of flooding. The river Avon is normally no wider than about 5 meters where it passes under the bridge but on Sunday it was about 250 meters wide!! Couldn't believe it.

I think we got very lucky at home because although both our front and rear gardens were flooded the water got to within an inch of the door. I'm just wondering how much ground water has gotten in under the house and under the floorboards! Guess we'll see in time.

i'm not flooded out more flooded in luckily i'm on high ground where i live but cant get to gloucester, my only way out currently is to goto wales then m4/m5 which is heavy with traffic and the water is still rising in gloucester they say it will peak tommorrow(tuesday) afternoon

Had a call yesterday from my rather distraught sister (whe lives in my hometown of Thatcham in Berkshire.) to say her house has been flooded, 2ft high water in every room....and the dog was attempting to swip its way to freedeom.

Neigbours rear garden furnitures littering the street, firecrew everywhere. Chaos by the sounds of it. Pretty much the entire town shutdown.

well here in swindon been here most of my life and flooded - not to bad

got 2 rivers each side of our area one burst its bank and the other was very close

mate lost his focus which was a shame

Im ok here at the top of a hill in Aldershot but here are some pics i took from in my lorry on friday. This is the M40 just after Warwick services very wet! I was sat in a traffic jam for about 2 hours  20072007333.jpg[/img] 20072007334.jpg[/img]

PMSL, Yeah thats more like it mate. ;)

been out three times this weekend pumping, first call was to a house where the water flooded that quickly that a mother went up stairs to bath and put her baby to bed and by the time she was coming downstairs she was flooded out and stuck there.

To make it worse we couldn't get straight to her house as some tw4t in a brand new 230 Merc thought he could drive on water fooked up his car and blocked the road so had to sort that before getting to the mother. the Number of people making stupid journies in that weather FF's don't think about us fooker's that have to risk our lives to save them from THERE own dull thinking

What makes me laugh is all the 4x4 drivers that think they can go down roads that are closed from the floods and get stuck in the middle :headvswal. I saw a brand new range rover do this on saturday she got stuck in the middle and i luaghed my bangers off! :D
