as i only use my car at the weekend i have to listen to the lifters pump up for the first couple of seconds untill the oil pressure builds up every time i start her up and i need advice on the best way to put an inline switch on the ignition circut thus enabeling me to turn the motor over then flick the circut "live" after oil pressure has come up. It is only a problem because my car starts in about 0.5 of a second and goes instantly to fast idle which cant be good for a motor which has a 5-7 day oil drain down time, would the switch be better on the live side of the cas or the fuel pump?????

i would have thought it would be better to cut the fuel supply. a spark in a fuel less cylinder would be better then too much fuel in a sparkless cylinger (washing the bores)

of course i know nothing so waiting to be proved wrong....................

if its the case i would have thought a switch in the fuel pump power supply would do!

easier to wire as its in the cabin.

Don't completely follow your reasoning. If it takes 10 revolutions of the engine for the oil pump to fill the lifters then does it matter if the spark plugs are firing or not ?

I always pull the fuel pump fused link [green in fuse box under bonnet and turn over for a bit then put back in ]I normally do this when coming back off hoilday or been standing for a long period.
