Went to the bank this afternoon to pay £1200 cash into my account.

There was definatly without any doubt £1200 cash there...but when she repeated back to me "ok, so were paying in £2200 cash" I just noded. :nelson:

She asked me to sign the receipt thing, and sure enough it had £2200 writted on it. Just checked my bank account, and it shows £2200 paid in!

£1000 extra :D Anyone know how likely it is they will realise ? Dont know wether to just leave it and wait and see...but for how long.....perhaps blow it all on a dirty weekend, or order those new coilovers I had my eye on LOL

i would keep your mouth shut and not tell anybody. ooops you have just posted it on a PUBLIC FORUM! :headvswal

if its signed £2200 id imagine its yours? however when they add up at the end off the day they will realise a £1000 is missing so either

a)someone will be without a job

b)they will suspect where the money has gone

who knows? dont touch it for a week, if its still there your probably in luck!

i know a mate who had a random £10,000 paid in to his account, still had it sometime after no one missed £10k then LOL

what Conscience ? LOL

My first wife was a bank clerk. In those days nobody was allowed to go home until they found the missing cash. In this case £1000. I know things have changed over the years but its a straight forward amount and unless they had someone else paying in the same or very similar amount then they will realize where it has gone. Also the computer will let them know that the error was made at that time. I would imagine that they will correct the books and write to you explaining with an appology. If they dont then have a good time on the grand mate. :D

I wondered how they would tell it was my account they overpaid into....as there would of been dozens(hundreds?) of people paying in cash that day.

Depends how often the money is counted I guess to determine in which time period it occured ?

I dont think they could find out when its human error and there are no logs of that.

Only if she remembers.

My brother once found a cash machine that was giving out double, we got about a grand between us before it was empty.

samething happened to this women http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770

link doesnt seem to be working now but bank accidently put in 135k in her account when she realised instead of informing the bank etc she went on a mad spending spree, spent about 2k at ann summers pmsl & approx 40k on a holiday

There was a story in the paper this week about a similar thing,a woman had 100 grand put into her account by mistake....she spent alot of it but was then arrested....any cops cruising by your house?

didnt they use one of those weighing machines to gestimate how much money was there? pretty major boob by the professional cashier so wouldnt feel that guilty about it. Were you putting her off with "come to bed eyes"??

daves case is different... were not talking 100's of thousands here so its easier to write off... if he paid cash in then they have absolutely no comeback let alone any way of tracing it, the other high figure cases would have been transfered and traceable... its not as if they scan each note for each transaction so they know who paid what notes in!

you have a signed receipt to say you paid 2200 in so if your conscience can handle it, smile and take the money... have you not played monopoly...

'Bank error in your favour.... collect £1000'

thats what im miffed by? all clerks weigh money on the counter, and is then normally checked by a manager and signed by.

aghh well see what happens bud

never used the weighing/counting machine thing, even although she had to count in manually in front of me twice as she counted short the first time (£20 short, not £1000 LOL)

what Conscience ? LOL

Exactly,

never look back or you will get bit in the ar5e.

Make the most of your good fortune (no pun intended)

Leave it to simmer in your account for a while, then when all settles down,

If youve got the bottle go back to the bank and kick up a stink, there is no way they could prove that you didnt put that money in.......unless you were the only person in the bank that day!!
