I have had sky for about 2 years now and having been consdiering canceling it as i always miss stuff

A mate at work says ring them and say you want to cancel as your not around in the evenings. They will offer a sky plus box for 50 quid (normally 130), tell them its too expensive and they will offer one for free.

Just rang them and got mine coming next week :)

Yeah im tied in for another 12 months but the mrs would go mad at me if she lost her living tv anyways!

Also swapped the music for news and events so can watch the repeat of the french drifting later on.

All im saying is if you have normal sky and arnt really thinking of cancelling soon give them a ring and get yourself a free sky plus box!

I love my Sky+ box, great invention IMO, Mine cost £99 :hyper:

I've got sky plus HD cost £300.If your thinking about it don't bother, it's a nice enough picture especially the football but there arn't enough channels (not all channels are HD) for the outlay off the box and an extra £10 a month.Sky plus tho is supberb i couldn't live without it. ;)

It`s the best thing to happen to tv . I`d hate to be without Sky+ now . Being an occasional drinker , which involves regular visits to the powder room , I never have to miss bits of live progs ( pause facility ) . And recording is easy-peasy . Love it ! :D

I paid £150 for my HD box. :D

I agree that there aren't too many channels in HD at the moment, but there's a lot of HD stuff on. The £10/month still seems like a bit of a rip-off but I'm still in 2 minds as to whether it's worthwhile or not. I think you have to at least have the film channels and/or sport to consider it.

I had Sky+ before HD and Tivo before that so I can hardly remember what it was like not to be able to record to disk, live pause, etc. :nana2:

Dave , I have the Sport and Movie packages , which I think are expensive enough without paying £10 pm to get a clearer bloody picture ! Maybe one day HD will be free , it happened to Eastern Europe ! ( OK , bad analogy , HD is much more important :p )

Just a joke , our new Eastern Europian friends , many of whom work very hard round here . :p

Maybe a better analogy is that Sky+ used to be £10/month and is now free? ;)

I know what you mean about the price and I originally bought the box without subscribing to the HD channels. I think I managed to hold out for about 2 days before I changed my mind. :slap:

I justified it by moving my broadband over to Sky from Bulldog and saving £15 in the process. :nana2:

I moved over to SkyTalk ( easy ) , and Broadband ( a long process , due to probs with their equipment at the exchange ) , but , after about 5 weeks , sorted the other day , and happy with it ...seems to be " on " all the time whereas with Tiscali Broadband I always got a Dial-up box onscreen . Must be that Local Area Connection malarkey . Still , in my efforts to save Planet Earth , I switch the power off when I`m not online otherwise the Skybox seems to be , like I said , always connected . Any readers who have managed to stay awake through this post may spot the fact that I`m not a techie :p

You probably had a usb adsl modem with Tiscali and you're now using the router Sky provided. The router is supposed to stay connected.

I personally wouldn't bother turning the router off (in fact I don't ;) ), but it depends on whether it's easy to get to and whether you have anything else connected other than the 1 pc.

I finally got HD last month after being tempted by the £150 and free install offer. Very impressed so far but looking forward to some more HD channels.

Just about to bin my BT Business broadband after 7 years and switch it to Sky as well. Fingers crossed eh? ;)

Thanks , Dave . I`d already swapped a lot of connections about , so the Sky router is , basically , the only one that can`t be switched off by an "Off " button , if you know what I mean . So I`m assuming they don`t use much power when not active ? BTW my electricity bills are paid by my employer , so saving money isn`t the issue . Just being kinda green .

And running a Zed , which I rarely drive....go figure !

Router will use bugger all power, turning it on and off is more trouble than its worth and kind of defeats the point of an always on connection, hence why it doesn't featuyre an on/off switch.
