about 10 actually

stock injectors can put enough fuel in for about 14.5 psi, 15 tops

turbos run out of puff about 18 - 19 psi but they will get very hot quick without better intercoolers

so 15 at the very most on a very healthy stock engine but get ready to change the clutch and brakes

where abouts in the mids are you mate?

I would research the decat on turbo seals before you go ahead, use the search on here as im not opening that can of worms again!

yes but as i said clutch will last about a week if its stock and the brakes fade quick if used much

id play it safe at 14, leave yourself a bit of room for extra in cold intake temps etc

IIRC safety boost is 7, normal is 9?

No, common misconception, what i previously stated is correct :)

Safety boost 5psi, standard boost 7psi, extended boost 9.5psi :) on stock tt

I think you'll find that safety boost is the same as std boost, eg ~7psi.

Well thats great news Andy, seriously mate, im not taking the piss, it means my boost gauge is crap & im am running in extended boost.

In safety it was reading 5psi, extended boost 7psi lol :D

Couldn't it be that your boost gauge is accurate and you have a boost leak?

Yes mate, its possible :) But its been covered in alot of previous posts ;)

I cant find it , if it is a leak

Well setting aside inaccurate boost gauges there are only two levels of boost to my knowledge (and it's difficult to find documentary evidence of those). Standard and extended. This is because the BSCV's are either on/off - as controlled by the ECU.

I don't pay much attention. ;) I'm pretty sure I have one too and I can't find it either (although I did find a couple of others).

thanks for clarifying :)

Me too lol :)

pretty much as everyone else has said mate. a TT normally boosts to 9.5psi. your first mods are zorst and intake. to increase the boost you can use a manual boost controller ( :nono: :nono: ), boost jets which are dead cheap and easy to install but could cause boost to spike (and you need to make sure you get the right sizes), or the best bet is to splash out on an electronic boost controller. take it up to about 14psi for now and see how you get on. only decat if youve got a few hundred quid spare in case your rear seals go and start to leak oil (like mine :( )

hi if the rear seals do go bad what does it take to get them back in good condition and how much does it cost cheers

And not forgetting having the ECU chipped and re mapped. You wont get any more boost out of it if you still have the stock chip even with a EBC and the stock fuel mapping wont give you the extra fuel needed either

££££££££. Engine out turbo's replaced or tubs rebuilt you can be looking at a bill of at least £1,500 give or take unless you can do the work yourself

oh ok, maybe just a cat back then, ile reseach it neway, cheers...so about 15psi on a good engine u reckon?

I wouldnt even go that high 12psi would be max, that ample enough on a stock engine
