My latest Zed is fitted with a Toad alarm which I think may be a cheap 'un. What is really pissing me off with it at the moment is it occasionally locks me out of the car. It happened twice now and the second time was when I was collecting the car from Infinity Exhaust yesterday. I started it up and went round the back to listen to the new note and then could not get back in. A length of welding wire was brought into play and the window was opened. Afterwards when I got into the car and started it again with the door shut it did not lock it, what the f@@k is going on, any ideas please.

its got what they call "anti hijack" facility which is factory set to "on". you will need the pin code (4 digit) for the unit to get into the setup menu and deactivate it.

But it does not do it every time. As I stated I tried it again afterwards and the door could be opened from outside. Weird.

It has a time delay before it will lock the doors, also if you open the passenger door it recognises this and will not activate the anti hijack feature!

it will only do it if done in sequence IE: turn alarm off, door open/close, start car. if the sequence is broken then it wont work. its difficult to try and explain but it gives a rough idea. the anti hijack is a total pain in the ass, you are not on your own & would not believe the amount of cars ive been out to over the years where owners have been locked out of their cars with the engine running. for a long long time now, whenever i fit alarms i always turn this feature off with the hassle its caused.

Thanks Mario, I think I have all the paperwork for the alarm, hopefully including the pin number, so I shall put it on my to do list for this weekend. regards John

Why not contact the manufacturer with the serial number, they may issue a pin.

If the alarm has been fitted properly it is impossible to get locked out of the car. On the Z the 2 doors and the boot can all be connected using 1 wire, (red and white behind the clocks) If only one door has been connected to the alarm then it won`t work properly. The Toad Alarms won`t lock the doors if a door is open(that feature is on a 12 second timer) so if it is locking with a door open then the alarm isn`t seeing the door that`s open.

Easiest way to check, open 1 door and set the alarm, if you get 3 bleeps from the siren then that circuit is working, try the other door, boot and bonnet seperate. If you don`t get a fault code when arming then that circuit isn`t working properly.

Cheers Bob, sadly the bleep has also been disarmed when locking or unlocking so it is a visual flashing of the indicators which tells you its locked. Although I have all the instructions etc., their is no receipt for the fitting, it could well have been fitted wrongly by some cowboy.

The bleep may have been disarmed but if you arm it with a fault(door, boot, bonnet open) then you will get an audible warning.

Bob

Sorry to hijack slighlty here but how can I make mine beep bob?

So its on arming and disarming beeps rather then looking for the indicators?

cheers

Has to be done in the programming, any Toad dealer will do it, bit of a bitch if you`re not familiar with it so wouldn`t even try to explain it to you!!

Bob

Bob, sorry to trouble you after fitting my alarm, but my ultrasonics have become disabled, probably by my sausage fingers!

How can get them on line again?

yes. your not wrong there mate. they are a bitch because the install guide is wrong when it comes to the programming feature. never had this problem with the 101cl, 201tc or ai600 which were the earlier toad alarms.
