I've bought a Border bonnet from a guy in Belgium and have to meet him at Brands Hatch this weekend - 14th or 15th July.

Was going to make a day of it by watching the GT Car Championship but how the hell do I get 2 bonnets home 200+ miles? LOL

Options I've thought of so far:

1, Collect bonnet and try put it in the boot of the Z or my Astra Estate - don't think it will fit?

2, Put the new bonnet on the Z and sell the old one to someone local - Is anyone near Brands Hatch who wants it or who could collect and store it for me at their place?

3, Go in the Astra and try fasten it on the roof bars somehow - I don't have the full roof rack so it could be dodgy as I don't know how I'll secure it properly and its a crap drive home with something like a sail on the roof.

4, Hire a van - expensive and crap weekend in a van! LOL

5, Anyone else going to Brands Hatch who could collect and store it for me until I can get down later or find someone who is heading up north in a van etc?

Advice please!

lol you wont get the boat off the trailer on to dry land without damaging the hull and if you did you wouldnt get it back on again, you have to float boats on and off the trailer unless you get it crained off. Yep they live on the trailer out of water

oh right lol, ill get mi coat, has a mate not got a trailer you can borrow?

LOL! You need help Sarah! I thought you were joking about dumping the boat off the trailer! LOL

Trailer idea might be possible actually :)

Chris why dont you take a gentle drive down without a bonnet providing its dry then put the new bonnet on while down there :D

i know nothing about boats lol, im scared of the sea!!

Remove your existing Z bonnet. Put your boat on the exposed engine of the Z (secure with bungies). Put the bonnet on your trailer. Dump the trailer at brands hatch togther with your old bonnet. Drag the new bonnet home behind your astra with some rope. Get home and put the boat on the new bonnet.

Job done. It's not rocket science is it.

That has certainly crossed my mind! But I presume it's illegal???

It's so much hastle as I'll probably only get a £100 or so for my existing bonnet (with Z Centre bulge) that by the time I've hired a trailer or made other arrangements I might as well dump it somewhere and drive home with the new one on

Put the new or old bonnet in the back of the Zed, they fit in a 2+2 as I have done it.

Coool I knew someone must have tried it :)

Wozzer told me no way would it fit as he couldn't get one in his 4x4.

I was going to take it off and see if it fitted in the boot tonight but you an imagine the looks on my neighbours faces as I take it off and start shoving it in the boot! WTF??? LOL

I might have sold it anyway and if it doesn't fit for some reason I'll leave it behind a hedge for one of you southerners to collect in a Z styleee treasure hunt :D

You could hire a VW Transporter TDi 130...Flying machines.....Cardiff to Newcastle and back in a day for a boot previously, and they're a pleasure to drive which is why i went via the A49 Cardiff to Warrington! ;-) .....Plus you can throw a bed in the back for the weekend at Brands Hatch!! ;-)

When I bought my bonnet from blackmagic I got it in my Vectra estate with loads of spare room Chris so I should imagine it will fit into an Astra as they aint that different.

I had to put the back seat down and move the passenger seat forward a couple of inches but it goes in sideways quite nicely and the boot closes fine :)
