I know a lot of people have had their black strip removed in favour of going bodycolour. But I'm starting to think that they look much nicer with the black stripe, especially if accompanied with the smoked indicators as fitted to UK cars.

For instance, pearl white here with black stripe, breaks the front bumper up a smidge....

Indicators need some work on them.

Here they are with smoked indicators. Nice clean look to the front end

Now, fog lights will then be a bit of a blot on the landscape. Now I could get the IC ducts from Z1, but quite like this idea...

The bloke that owns this has painted the inner parts of his fog lights in a black-chrome, similar to turb0z, so that they look almost the same as the smoked indicators...

Well those are the indicators I want anyway, will have to get the fog light backings painted too so that they are of a similar smoked-ness etc. Dunno whether to do the stripe in a gloss black. Would match the other black parts on the car such as the door pillars, rear light surrounds etc.

The UK spec doesnt have tinted indicators. they are just blanks. the front indicators/side lights are in the foglight units.

Oh right are they? Ok...well, I am sure they have the cutouts in the backs ready for drilling. I have seen some A-spec ones which are like that and have blanked bits..infact JDM ones have running lights which are blanked off.

Charcoal stripe every time. Breaks the front up and makes it look lower (compare to the wide-mouth look of the 99 spec).

Yup, I do prefer it. Strange as originally, I always liked the entire bumper bodycolour. I remember the little Nissan decal too. Only fitted to A-spec cars iirc.

Must say i have been toying with this for my re spray. Damn you FUNKYSI you keep giving me more to think about !!!!£$"""$£"£$!$ :slap: :slap:

Are you going to get the smoked indicator units and tint out the inner reflector on the fog light?

  • Author

Hehe. Mine won't be done until the winter anyway. Thinking about doing turb0z's headlight design as well. Should sharpen the front end up a lot without drifiting away from its original looks. :)

Do you have a close-up of your smoked (what would be indicator on JDM cars)....I mean, can you pop the two screws off and take a pic of the back where the bulb would usually fit?

Cheers

si i think your getting the wrong idea regarding uk sepc blanks... they are not tinted, they are solid non-opaque plastic... you would need to tint your jap spec ones... or, fit the uk spec blanks, painted the same colour as the strip, then fit uk spec indicators (fit where your jdm fog lamps sit) and tint them.

Yup, that's the sort of look I want.

PS, you can get tinted corner repeaters from Z1 motorsport. Guess they must be of a different design. I've never had the bumper off of a UK spec one so wouldn't know.

The tint is only slight I think on the Z1 versions. They are dark, but I don't think it would block out anymore light than cars with tinted rear lights etc...and I'd get some higher intensity repeater bulbs. I have LED super bright side lights already anyway.

the sidelights wont matter as when you do your 'turb0z' style headlamps youll do an angel eye conversion right? ;) :p
