Take it to someone who can spray in 2k paint. Don't bother with celly out of a can. Utter shite.

Lee you have got nothing to lose by having a go yourself... after all if its crap you can rub it down again ( its the only way you will learn ) Most aersols now are Acrylic based ( celly is getting phased out to protect the world or summit like that )

Don't forget to put primer on first.... i'm sure there will be something online if you do a search for it..

I can get very good results from aerosols. Just find the finish breaks down so quickly. To get a good shine on the lacquer, many even thin layers, when dry, WD down with 2k grit, then a nice cutting compond, before polishing up.

Lee is that blue a metallic color??? Or just plain??

It will make a difference in what you need to do.

answer that and I will do you a step by step guide.

you dont want it to smooth......sand it down to remove any blemishes then key it with either a fine 1000+ grit paper or emery cloth.

Then wash and dry. Spray in light even strokes from about 20cm away, overlapping the end of the panel on each stroke. Let it dry tacky inbetween coats.

primer first, a few coats then give it a light sand to smooth and key it again ready for the base coat. Laquer last...does'nt matter wether its Metallic or not with Nissan colours, all have a top laquer coat.

read this easy guide your not spraying a huge panel so you should be fine, go for it dont be scared lol link

Thats not a bad guide Carl, but I would normally spray basecoat metallic. DONT Touch with anything. then 2 hours later get it laquered. Then flat with 1200 and finally a couple of days later when its all settled down mop it with G3.

1200grit as a final cut is too abrasive. Want a 2k WD after that before cutting back. Make sure you have plenty of coats of lacquer. But make sure they are fine even coats. Doesn't matter if it's not shiney as that's achieved by finishing off.

I bought a j-spec nose panel (Don't like the UK spec Nissan Hamburger :p ) for my car.

My local body shop charged me £50 cash to sand, prime, paint and laquer the whole thing.

Worth it IMO....

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

if you mop with g3 remember it is a quite abrasive compound, try gentle g3 followed by 3m machine glaze

i did mean Liquid G3 in the squeezy bottle not the paste in the tub.

Sorry , My omission.

 He only wants to paint a headlight panel.

Just paint it mate and if you fook it up you can rub it down and try again its the only way to learn :D

Best thing to do is send it to me and I will do it for free, how does that sound. My first Z was the same colour as yours and I still have some paint in that colour. PM me. :D
