They dont look like a jap made exhaust ,they do look like a custom job .

they look like "Power flo" items a franchise exhaust outfit , sometimes good sometimes bad depends on the garage doing the work ,the grade of stainless is a bit suspect sometimes but again depends on the garage .. either way 150 quid is a bargain for a zorst

Not to mention questionable materials. I know their boxes are made of 501 stainless, but their pipework is some kind of semi-stainless mongrel steel which corrodes.

You should be able to tell on the boxes though. If they are Powerflow or longlife, you'll find embossed lettering stating that.

cheers chaps had a good look at them today when i cleaned them up but no marks or names on them at all but the pipes do look like a different type of steel so maybe powerflow

The reason powerflow pipe corrode is because they use low grade Stainless- steel.

Stainless-steel is an alloy, made up of commonly carbon, steel, nickel and chromium, it grade depends

mainly on the chromium/nickel content. 10.5% chromium being low grade, 26% chromium being high grade.

Unfortunately the more chromium is in the steel the harder it is, which makes it near impossible to weld, and eats machine bits for breakfast.

Places like powerflow train people to weld, hence the reason they use low grade stainless,301 i think,

it welds easily and is more ductile.

The main point I guess is that not all stainless-steel has the same corrosion resistance
