And to say it's a teaser is an understatement!, but i did ask him not to show me till it's all finished!it's only been 8 weeks!

Looks a little like Vauxhall's brocade yellow....like a very light yellowy metallic gold. Very nice. Think it'll suit the Z nicely.

Yup he is teasing you..... he has sent you a pic of a banana. :nana2:

Look forward to seeing the whole car..... :D

It's actually candy sunspot yellow, over Ford moondust silver, with a lemon lime metallic flake in it. I'm not too fussy at all! lol

You and me both, cant believe i dropped it off on the 17th May! But it a favour so he fitting it around his other work, hes also had a few problems, with etch primer flaking in places.... well it's been like it for 2 years so a little flaking was to be expected!

Will look fantastic in the sun.............if we ever get any

i was just thinking the same thing! lol

Well i got 5 liters of candy, at a 2:1 + 10% mix that gives 8 and a bit liters, he kindly told me to get the effect i want i need another 5 liters of candy and 2.5 of activator!!! so in total a whopping 16 liters of mixed candy paint add that to the 7 mixed liters of base coat.... the paint job will weigh as much as the car! lol but seriously thats like 23 liters of mixed paint!!

Sounds lovely. Looks like a fine flake, almost flip which is a good choice.

Hope you're having a good 5 or 6 coats of lacquer...so that finishing off, can be taken to the next level with a good detailer. Much more paint to work with to get that mirror shine on the top coat.

think it was 0.0008 microns or something like that, i got 1/2 pound which was 4tubs,but dont think he'll use 2 pots, but at least it gives me some in case of disaster! i've had a few things made/mixed up just for me to get that unique effect.

he's got some lacquer but not sure how many coats are going on, i will ask him, and hes got to wait for the next batch of paint to arrive anyway. i'll get some more lacquer and surprise him! lol

That's very fine, almost like a pearl.

That was the flake, don't know what the paint micro is, the flake might be a little bigger than that, maybe 0.008 not sure off the top of my head.

Funki, i know you had the detailing done, and when i saw your pics i knew i'd go the same way, how much lacquer do they actually take off when detailing? because i thought that the candy was just a coloured lacquer so to speak. i have asked him to finish with clear lacqure but only gave him 3 liters, how much will i need to give 5 -6 coats?

Unfortunately at the time, I didn't specify the amount of coats of lacquer, I wish to hell I had done now as I would have liked to have spent more time wet sanding it to get the top coat as flat/even as possible. To be honest, mine wants doing again, which I may have done at some point towards the end of the summer before it goes away to the hibernaculum. hehe

I did use a paint depth gauge, but unless you either have a bare metal respray and/or have one of those expensive paint depth gauges that measures breakdown in thicknesses rather than total thickness, you've kinda gotta be pretty careful.

We did various test patches and found a method to which suited what we thought the paint could take. But in hindsight, I'd liked a good 5 or 6 coats of lacquer. Plenty of depth then to get that superior mirror finish and less chance of error.

If that colour is anything to go by it's going to look great when it's finished!

By far the best colour as well!
