I`ve got a 2nd hand wishbone, steering rack and other bits and bobs from the front suspension laying around, and in this case, free of charge if it helps ! Glad you are ok.

Alan.................

Ill add a front wing, and i think I have intercoolers. They are from my SWB, dont know if there is a difference. Yours if you need them.

Any news from the insurance on this Darren?

Bump (no pun intended)

Wanna see this car back on the road!

DISGUSTING those pedestrians caused an accident that could have been fatal, look at the damage to your car through their careless actions, imho they should be made to pay for the damage.

Just glad your ok.

Hey really sorry to see this.

Glad you were Ok and hope the car will repair.

i can see next week being pretty long with negotiating etc... the insurance co reckon its going to be about 7k worth of repairs... i said wtf! the labour figure came to 2300 quid, so fck knows what parts theyre thinking of using! but the insurance are awaiting the formal breakdown etc which i will contest/offer alternatives to, hopefully to my favour. the rep at the insurance company is very helpful. however they are yet to value the car too... its not yet a write off... maybe the car will be rightly valued at more than the repair figure!!

bad news is that a-plan dont normally let you buy your car back after a write off and they increased my renewal from 910 to 1860, ****s. i'm thinking of leaving the world of the z32, the cars arent getting any younger and i'm generally pissed off.

as mentioned before i wouldnt go thru insurance if it wasnt for the ******* council barriers i broke... on the other hand if i manage to buy the car back and if the car becomes a cat c then no one will ever buy it after me, and thats also a bad situation... dillemmas dillemmas...

in the mean time ive got temporary cover on my brothers slk230 kompressor at the mo which he is about to sell...

:( I've got most front end parts which you're more than welcome to if needed. Main points to check are the suspension turret and the point where the tie rod meets the radiator support, oh and the front cross-member.

Don't give up, I don't see how they can refuse to sell it back to you???

the insurance designated 'engineers' have deemed my car a Cat B!!! Furthermore their initial payout was only £2k! Can you beleive it!

I have sent the engineers a long list of work and mods done in the past year to the value of 6500 quid, hopefully they will increase the payout... And I am fighting long and hard to have the car redesignated Cat C. There are far worse Cat C cars out there, anyone with access to a utility like Bluecycle will see this!

If I get 4-5 grand and get to keep the car as a cat c i'll be happy... best case scenario is 6.5k and the car as a cat c... wishful thinking eh.

why do insurance companies have to be so hard to deal with? you pay your premium, and the only time you have to use them for a claim, they act like tossers.

I think your 350Z wheels have got to be worth 2K?! Hold out with the insurance co and get some independant advice from your own engineer if needs must!

Good luck mate and hope you get it sorted.

They always offer low on the first instance. Although £2k for yours is an absolute insult. Best thing to do is to find clippings and adverts for similar condition Zs....as had as that will be as most UK Zs are in unfortunate condition. Fight your corner as hard and laborious that might be.

Might be worth getting it insured at an agreed value when it's back. I really should do that with mine. Premium might go up a bit, but at least you know it's actually unsured for a reasonable amount.

Although don't get your car stolen, torched and then try to claim. Dodgy stuff...

Always the same dude!-tossers!

Like I said,If it were me I would have paid the Council bill and not claimed!

Cat B sounds a bit much tho'(without seeing it!) all IMHO of course! ;)

getting a little closer now... been offered 4500 quid, still Cat B but I reckon I can get higher than this, as FunkySi mentioned, I will send a bunch of clippings etc to show how much the car is worth, i'll try and push for 6500 (insured value), although they may meet me in the middle at 5500 which i suppose is a fair deal still.

I am also pushing to have the car reclassified as a Cat C so that I can repurchase and fix the car up... however if the car remains a Cat B, they will let me keep it for a small fee for breaking etc and sign that I will not put the car on the road again.

Thats quite a jump from 2k to 4.5k mate!!

Dont have any crap from them, get anything you can even if its only a polished bolt and so on to show them how much money youve spent on it. Theres a fair few cars on here that have sold well so print them off and send them across.

Hope you get what your after mate, ATB

a bit off topic, am i going mad... ive recently been thinking about getting as much for the zed as i can, breaking the rest, then putting some more cash together to get a BMW M Roadster? :S the 325 BHP S50 model.... anyone have any experience of them?

even if my car is a Cat C, i'd be stuck with it for ever as no one would buy it off me...

saw one dissapear in my rear view mirror once :)) ........gutted about your car mate

it was always one of my favourites ( and the best colour )

Steve

A car at that age, I'd buy a CatC. Needs little to make any car over 10 years old a CatC. People just have a stigma attached to it. Provided it's been repaired to a high standard, I'd sooner buy it than some of the shit box Zs about!

Push for it mate. If you get £5,500 and a CatC and get to keep the car, you can get the thing repaired to a good standard and have a few pennies left in the can.

hi guys. i got 6500 for the car, minus excess (400 quid) i get 6100. If I want to keep the car they will charge me 25% of the settlement (1625) which leaves me with 4475. the car's rear wheelarches have started rusting too, as has one sill, and so over half the car will need paint and bodywork, thats before actually repairing the car. i've also lost all my no claims bonus so insurance is a ******* now. all in all a very expensive job if its to be done to a high standard before insuring. the car also had a few mechanical niggles and so maybe it was the right time to get rid of; it would have turned into a money pit.

i'm going to take the 6100. its been emotional but i have had to think with my head not my heart, i *think* ive done the right thing. i'll prob get something newer, shame there are no 1999/2000 twin turbo zx' about. i'll still be around.

  • Author

thanks. i guess i would have got close to that much if i actually sold it pre accident!

heart braking but at least you got some reasonable cash for it... Should be seeing a few 97's coming in now.... if your lucky i've seen one or two advertised with the genuine 99 spec front lights! such a real shame about it.

  • Author

very true with the original 99 spec front lights that would be very cool! part of me wants another zx 1997 model, but part of me says i've done the 'zx' thing...

  • Author

one thing's for sure, this slk 230 kompressor i'm using is a nice well built classy car, but its NO FUN AT ALL! it just encourages me to buy something more exciting the more i drive it!
