As many of you know, I was given the task of designing, printing and dispatching the 2007 Club Calendars at the back end of last year.

The Committee decided to subsidise the cost of the calendars due to the fiasco the year before. This was done as a goodwill gesture to our members, as some had paid for calendars the previous year and didn’t even receive one, thanks to an untrustworthy former member. :mac1:

The calendars were printed and ready for mailing in early November. I was conscious that this was getting late and wanting to ensure all members received them before Christmas, I decided to mail all calendars to those who had put their names on the list. The committee trusted members would receive their calendars and settle the outstanding bill, after all the calendars were purchased from the printers using club (members) funds.

Over 130 calendars were mailed to members and the vast majority paid within days. Some took longer than others but in the end they were paid.

However, it disappoints me to inform you all, that 3 members have still not paid for their calendars, some 7 months after receiving them, despite several posts from me, asking non payers to settle their outstanding debt.

It is the Club Committee’s role to look after club funds in the best interests of the club and it’s members, so to that end, it leaves me no option but to name and shame the three members who still haven’t bothered to pay.

Don’t get me wrong, we’re not talking about a fortune here but TBH, that’s not the point. I bought them calendars with money that didn’t belong to me, it belongs to you all. I have to do everything at my disposal to recover the cost.

The three non payers are:

Sinclair

Mowgs

Karl300zx

This matter has been discussed at length, several times by the Club Committee and each time we have said, “let’s give them a little more time, we don’t know their circumstances”. “Let’s try sending them yet another PM and see if we have more luck”

We are now beyond that stage and are now giving these three members 7 days to settle the bill. If the bill isn’t settle within 7 days, we will be terminating their membership of the club with loss of all benefits.

This message has been posted in the open forum because all three are now not subscribed members, therefor unable to access the Private Forums.

Thanks

The 300ZX.co.uk Club Committee

To be fair on Sinclair,he has'nt been online since Oct 2006, way before the calenders were printed. In fact his last post was to put his name down for one.

Who was responsible for the deciscion to hand over (club) funded items without first recieving payment for them?......................that person should be made to cough up the cash or should face a ban also imho!!!

That person will be me.

Don't really see what that's got to do with it Dave.

1. He said he wanted one.

2. He got one.

3. He knows they were not free.

4. He knows how much they were.

5. He should have made the effort to pay.

Agreed yes, but I just meant he's not ignored payment requests like the others, he would'nt of seen any of the messages or PM's.

In fact Im more concerned about why somebody would just suddently stop altogether coming on forum like that. His last post was literally the last time he visited. :(

ok hows this.....................why was club money (ie our money) just given away???

thats not right in my books,we need a little bit of trust in the club or its going to be run like the likes of these big companys with no human interaction and thats the road we dont want to go down :( . the fact is Steve sent these out on face value and trying to do a favour and the fact the club got shafted is no fault of his as he was proberly trying to compansate for the "last calander fvk-up"

OK, so for next years calanders, we want the money before it is even printed!!

Is that OK??

As we all know, it was a bit of a rush to get them prepared, printed and sent out. And this year if we were doing it, we wanted members to have their calenders before June!!

This is why the membership was trusted to pay after they had received them, and everyone did, except 3, not bad really!

hmmmmmmm well if next years calendars are going to be out before June then you need to get your skates on especially if you want paying before they are printed.

It was a rhetorical question posted in response to the previous (and imo rather snidey) comments posted by some members that seemed to imply that the membership didn`t care if some people were ripping off the club.

@znut/shunter I see where you are coming from but with respect, it is wrong to assume that everyone is as fair minded as you or I or the overwhelming majority of the membership may be, especialy where other peoples money is concerned.

From the information in some of the previous posts it seems obvious that the money for the calendars is "lost" and needs to be written off the books in some way, probably by a vote of the membership at the next AGM and safeguards need to be put in place to prevent further losses being borne by the club and its membership because of the actions of unscrupulous members.

the worst by far has to be a featured car member not paying up. terrible. hope he hangs his head in shame but im sure he wont.

i understand what your saying but i dont agree with it - yes you are going to get some dicks who will always try and screw the club over - they will always be there - the club survives on goodwill - i know loads of members who have gone out of their way to help other members with no financial gain whatsoever - if costs £30 to keep the happy ( perhaps naivety) of the club i will cough up that myself - i for one hope that we dont get into a culture of "pay up first otherwise the calendars aint going to be printed" ..... V peace

i'm sure steve knows that 99% of people were very impressed with the calendar and the three who never pai - *****x to them ..... who cares

Regards,

alex

as you and hellraiser..have said " i " don't mind chiping in "for the good of the club"...

..

tis a great shame that on such a fantastic club there are still people who will try and con people i dont know about anyone else but i would have no qualms paying for a calendar before i recieve it at least that way there can be no financial worries to the club and i'm sure im not alone in that view

i know loads of members who have gone out of their way to help other members with no financial gain whatsoever

If thats peoples individual choice then thats fine, in fact I gave my last zed away to another member and like i said that was my car my choice, but thats neither here nor there when you are talking about other peoples money ie the club funds - its just bad practise imo.

i was 100% satisfied with mine (2) and hats of to the comittee and whomever it was who went out of their way to produce them and the 3 non payers deserve to be banned especialy after this length of time - agreed.

im not an expert on how "non-public funds" should be run but I have had a little bit of experience as a mess member and (for a short while) as assistant treasurer at my last unit before i de-mobbed and afaik thats not the correct way to do it, a reasonable attempt has been made to recover the money and has failed and it now needs to be "written off as a loss" and voted on by the membership (by a show of hands) at the next regular meeting

So far, 31 people have read this, and no-one wants to comment???

Maybe there is nothing to say that hasnt already been said? 3 people are not going to break the bank and we all know that there is enough money to cover the loss. So as already said put it down to bad experiance and lets make it money up front next year.
