Clint Thrust
Has anyone got these fitted. I've just put them on the rear of mine and this morning (wet) it was like driving on ice!!. Nearly lost it coming off a roundabout which earned me lots of admiring glances (NOT!). Cheers.
wow300
Glad you put that, lisaf fitted new fullun tyres to the rear of hers and that is totally like ice in the wet, but these are budget tyres, avoid at your peril i say. Heard this before about avons, which considering the price is not good !

I take it these are not cheap tyres to buy but what right does the consumer have when it comes to tyres? I mean its not like you can take them back for a refund.

geordie_liam
i work as a technician in a fast fit style garage and fit a few tyres when there isnt any mechanical work in and avons like are plastic compared to the compound that other manufacturers use and there a tw*t to fit especially low profile tyres, goodyear and michelins are so much easier to work with due to being a softer compound, if you want a half decent tyre for budget price go for maragoni zeta's i've heard they're quite good for how much you pay, have a cool tread pattern too nice big fat V
geordie_liam
another thing i should add is new tyres are coated with something (am not sure what) to keep them looking new while they're in storage but also makes them a bit lairy when first fitted, especially when wet, bit like theres diesel on the road
JEZ300Z
another thing i should add is new tyres are coated with something (am not sure what) to keep them looking new while they're in storage but also makes them a bit lairy when first fitted, especially when wet, bit like theres diesel on the road I fitted some Bridgestone SO2s to the rear of my old Z32 and I did a broadside across the road out of the tyre depot as they were very slippery!....It took a day or so for the treads to scrub up a bit and then the grip was excellent! Retro620ti
a 10 sec burnout should scrub em in ok
geordie_liam
a 10 sec burnout should scrub em in ok thats what i did in the gf's 328 when i fitted f1's coz she drives as fast in the wet as she does in the dry so i pulled into a bustop round the corner and lit them up :D
morebhp
hancook tyres are the best all round and reasonable priced

Nearly lost it coming off a roundabout which earned me lots of admiring glances (NOT!). Cheers. Avon tyres are utter sh*te! For a well known make they are a joke. I had a TVR that I was selling and fitted a pair on the rear as they were cheap(ish). I nearly crashed the first time I took it out for a spin, and had real trouble selling it as the first 3 people who drove it were convinced there was something drastically wrong with the suspension. I'll never buy Avons again.
b19rks
I thought you couldnt buy ZZ1's anymore, thought ZZ3 was the replacement. Ive had a few sets of Goodyear Eagle F1's and they are perfect.
markgixxer750
another thing i should add is new tyres are coated with something (am not sure what) to keep them looking new while they're in storage but also makes them a bit lairy when first fitted, especially when wet, bit like theres diesel on the road if car tyres are anything like bike tyres then it is the "release compound" that they put in the mould the makes them skiddy till they are properly scrubbed in :headvswal
EvoluZion3
ive had ZZ3s on mine for a couple of years - not had any problems, although im more of a conservative driver. lose traction under WOT in 1st though (which isnt totally a bad thing ;) ) i didnt choose the rubbers specifically, they came as an 18" alloy/tyre package fitted for £900 which i thought was quite reasonable. Guest SiFocusUK
toyo proxes T1R,s on 4 corners, like being on evostick dry or wet :) Yep, Managed to get sponsorship from Toyo a few years ago and wont go with anything else. The T1R's are great in the wet and the dry alike and arent mega bucks either !
scotty
I had Avons on my old wheels, would naver have them again after this happened to the side wall at 50 mph:
Martinx13
They are an excellent tyre in the dry, but get poor reviews in the wet.
