Drove all the way from Karen's place to my work this morning (43 miles), in all the bloody horrible weather (it was P'ing it down) with no problems whats-so-ever!

Come out of work this afternoon and find my rear near side tyre flat! And I mean completely  Dropped it off with the tyre place, went back to see how they were getting on with it, to find that there is a split in the tyre, and it's not repairable!!

I only bought my two rears for my MOT last December  *****X!!!

I'm currently skint until pay day, which is next Friday, and the credit card is maxed out, so can't even use that. So it's going to be at least two weeks before I can get a new tyre fitted!

How fast can I drive on the spare? I don't mean silly speeds, I just mean like motorway driving, not that I'll be doing very much over the next two weeks!

Wouldn't trust it at all mate - they're only rated for low speeds anyway (can't remember exactly what speed) but you shouldn't risk driving long-term imho. Sure someone local will lend you a spare... I would but you're a bit far away... think I've got about 4 sets knocking around too!!

50mph is the max speed on the space saver i believe, and dont think your allowed on the motorways with them, but im not 100% about that. Although i did drive all the way to Bournemouth from Essex and back on 1 once took forever and it was bald as a coot time i got back :nono: :smash:

Yup 50mph (80km/h) max.......although I did hit 90mph with it on the rear of my Z once before I remembered it was there :nelson:

I can't see why you couldn't use it on an m-way though; what happens if you get a flat tyre between exits - you would be stuck?

The legal minimum speed on a motor way is 30mph (except in a traffic jam of course....) so provided you can exceed 30 a space saver tyre must be legal to use.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Sorry to hear that mate. You could try asking them if they have a worn one for a couple of weeks use until you get paid. They may have one.

Thanks very much guys.

Well the majority of my travelling will be to work and back, which is only 2 mins away anyway.

All help appreciated, as usual

If it's that close then why don't you walk.

Just in case. You would feel gutted if you cause damage to the car for the sake of two weeks of walking to work.

I know I would.
