most of the traders have full time jobs as well i believe so time is an issue for them. hows your drifter comming along

^^ What he said. In all respect to Zeds but it wouldn't stand a chance. Zeds just are not track cars, they are GTs and thats what they are best at.

Mate... what kind of price you looking at for this? Ferries, accomodation, Laps etc etc?

I have no idea of what this might cost.

Cheers,

Rob.

anything from £300 up plus your petrol..your looking at £100 for the ferry and about £150 for the hotel 2 night's(twin room) and 16 euro's a lap ...( one lap in a TT is about a 1/4 of a tank )

Petrol cost is about 4/5 tank's return that's ..London/nurburgring...

..

I did'nt know anything about it....got link to details ?

lose some weight in the obvious places and with a proper suspension and brake setup there is a lot of potential.

lets not forget it blew away the competition on its launch on many different tracks, including the best porsche could offer.

in standard trim its not a ideal track car...but then very few cars are...but lose some weight in the obvious place and with a proper suspension and brake setup there is a lot of potential.

yes i could be interested to go with you Wozzer, only if i'm in France and not offshore ;)

Otherwise, i don't understand why people say it's a GT. Yes when you buy it from the dealer it's a GT but then there is enought aftermarket parts to help this car become a track car...

SPL finished in very good position in the last 2 event of time attack in USA and IMSA 300zx wins Le Mans ;)

Good links Dave, I'm going to sit back and watch the rest of those in a min. That Zed is very modified, the engine sounds completely different to normal. The response sounds amazing.

Bubache, the reason I think the way I do is because I don't think its a good base for a track car compared to the other options. At the moment I have a high power Rx7 for track days, and a Zed for a daily drive. The Zed weighs 1585kg (quick google!) and the Rx7 weighs 1270kg (rsr edition), thats nearly a third of a tonne different. You'd have to have several hundred horse power more and torque to match the power to weight ratio and the brakes are working much harder to stop the car again. I used to always wonder why there was so few people doing hardcore sports driving in a Zed, and this is the reason. Same reason you don't see many Supras doing track events, although they've got a very strong straight six and a gearbox like a tractor so they can be modified to high bhp, although I don't see the point if you can't do much with it other than go in a straight line? I just think its horses for courses and why make things harder for yourself? Its a lot easier for yanks to play engines as everything is cheaper over there so they can do more. That Zed does look awesome in the vids though.

The Zed in that link is actually fairly underpowered in comparison to all the cars it was beating. I think about the 400 at wheels figure as not that heavily tuned engine wise.

Depends which type of zed you start with as a base....I should see sub 1300kg (without stripping interior!) ;)

Bl*ody hell mate, thats good going. How are you managing that without removing the interior? I can't see where it would come from! Are you going for a full track car then? Removing sound deadening , seam welding and all the rest. Don't get me wrong with what I was saying earlier, I loved Boomins' car that I was bidding for on ebay, and I'd like to see more Zed track cars. I was just comparing it to show why not many people seem to do it. Have you got a thread up for it? would be a good one showing pictures of progress.

Just this thread - http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94200

but thats more about its progression from a rolling shell to a road car. Looking to get it on the road first and make changes as I go, but have started on the basics.

The swb slicktop is already about 100kg lighter than the equivelent 2+2, and I've lost another 100kg so far with full Hicas & aircon removal, lightweight seats fitted, 1 piece prop and other bits and pieces such as removal of EGR, AIV's, toolkits, stock spoiler and other unnessary parts...etc

It will be fully track ready with seam welding, roll cage, coilovers, adjustable everything, big brakes..etc But im not going for a stripped out track only car, more of a fast road car capable of competing in events such as time trials, hill climbs and track days.

It will eventually have the VG30DETT removed, and a highly tuned VH45de Nissan V8 put in its place with Dry sump, Custom Individual Throttle bodies, higher compression, cams...etc The new lump will lose another 60-100kg over the Stock engine too and will give a very responsive, powerfull and high revving output.

Investigating lexen glass and Carbon fibre panels too, but may not be needed.

  • Author

my car is already 1350kg but it's a 2+2 ;)

Also, i'm going with this lexen glass and Carbon fibre panels too and will see soon how it goes ;)

I may also come to participate in some Event in UK as my friend from Clashproduction are covering almost all the event over there ;)

where are you guys sourcing your lexan and carbon pannels from iv'e done a search before but it didnt bring anything much up

  • Author

i do the lexan panel myself and the carbon panel will be for the door. I will do them myself too. There is a lot of weight to gain as i will remove the eletrical motors of the power windows.

Also, i would like to find Carbon TTop and carbon (or fiber) hatch but that will be for later :)

Will see first how the engine is going ;)

did you fix your bearings?

  • Author

i'm coming home tuesday but before leaving i order a new Nismo crankshaft from CZP that i bring to the machine shop to mesure all the different size (can't find my word for explaining this :s)

But i order the "correct" bearing size and will install all tuesday night and will do the plastigage testing.

Hope everything will be find :)
