First off would like to say many thanks to Andy for taking time out of his saturday to have a look at my car. He identified that one of my o2 sensors was faulty so thats gonna be replaced.

We are both stumped on this one though and Andy thinks that one of my turbos could be seized. I know that the boost gauge isnt accurate but at idle i have a reading of -7, upon acceleration, the boost only goes to 0 and will not go positive.

Has anyone else had any similar problems like this as i would like to try ruling everything else out before i go replacing the turbos.

ConZult didnt show anything with no error codes on the ecu so looks like Andy could be right with the knackered turbo but if anyone has any more ideas would be great to here them !

Cheers peeps

I would have thought it would still boost over the zero as zero normally corresponds to no vacuum and after zero is positive pressure so one turbo should still give some positive reading.

Look for leaks mate, badly fitting pipes. I had the exact same thing on my Rex a few weeks back when I my intake hose was not on properly. (I may have this wrong) I was getting negative boost as the engine was sucking air in, but upon acceleration it was getting to air pressure (0psi) and then not going higher as it was equalising due to the badly fitting hose. I've had some of my piping modded and everything is as it should be now, full boost etc. The Zed has a lot of pipes so there are lots of potential leak points. The 2 big intake ones get worn and split, also the other two (turbo to intercooler, part metal part hose) may not be sitting well.

One turbo should boost above zero, the balance bar would spread it across both sides.

I had this on my UK car when my passenger side turbo went.......got boost all the way up to zero then no more.

I had decided it is to do with the rear turbo seal as well, but like someone else on the forum writes- "I stand to be corrected"

Probably to do with the front seal that everyone forgets about too! :D

i have checked the pipes and replaced the turbo hoses with new samco ones so i dont think its a leak there. when the car was serviced a few months ago i was told that there was a small oil leak from one of the turbos but it was only minor and nothing to worry about. just makes me wonder if its given up the ghost !

Also forgot to mention that we did a boost leak test and it appears to be holding pressure ok
