Been having a weird little problem today, recently i've replaced my 1.0mm boost jets with 0.8mm ones... Have waited till today to give it boot ful as my Z was pulling strong enough without full boost anyway... Was crusing along in 4th Gear and then floored it, the boost built strongly to 18Psi at 4000rpm and then then my Z basicly just cut the boost as if there was some kind of rev limiter there.

 

Carried on driving as normal and everything is ok, still getting plenty of boost at part throttle but nail it in 4th and it just cuts out... It feels like a boost pipe has blown off when it cuts out but all the pipes are fine and secure... You get plenty of boost up until 18PSI then CUT OUT!!!

 

Just wondering if it's the det sensor cutting in but I then though these things don't dectet det above 3000Rpm or something???? :confused: Or do I need to upgrade my Andy P stage 2 chip cause i'm running more boost than 1Bar???? My Z runs ace apart from that, if I just go back to the 1.0ml Boost jets and nail her she's fine at 16PSI....

in my first zed it did this when i tried to go over 1 bar, it was the plugs on mine, was blowing the spark out so changed for some colder ones, went to a 7 grade and it was fine then :)

the ecu is sensing it and powering down, best thing to do would be to get a boost controller.

i was assuming he is running bigger injectors to be wanting 18 psi LOL and i think andyp's stage 2 is for 555's?? could be wrong?

how could the ecu sense det? As said, knock sensor is ignored by ecu over 3k as the engine's too noisy...

Nice thought, Kirbz! Didn't think of that, where can I get colder ones from, worth a try as I know my plugs are at least 3 years old now..

As far as i'm aware Paul, just standard injectors but it is my second engine of unknow origin and may have 555's... Can't hear any dett at all and like I said it cuts out around 4000RPM when boost has fully built!!! Just wondering if the chip had any other fail safe programming too it???

be very careful mate, check the injectors, if there a browny colour there standard, if there purple then there 555's

 

if there standard then you cant run more than 1 bar ish anyway so dont even try ;)

 

if there 555's then are your intercoolers standard? again if they are then dont try more than 1 bar

 

if there uprated then try smithy, he does the ngk's in various coldness's ;)

 

also the heat doesnt help, i just uprated my swb to 1 bar and its detting at 1 bar which i think is mainly down to the heat, plus a bloody big air horn was right in the middle of one of the intercoolers lol
