ime hoping to pick up some 17" volks on sunday and want to know is it possible to get tires with a 40 section on the fronts to match the rear 40,s instead of 45 as per the norm???? please dont come back with a quantum phiysics equation about rolling radius e.c.t :rofl: just need to know are these obtainable

znut, the tyres are deffo not going to be the norm, doing a search for 225/45 R17 on mytyres.co.uk brought up 167 sets of tyres, a search for 225/40 R17.

 

It is doable, but you will be looking at v rare or custom rubber

remember aspect ratio is % of width... having 40s on the front won't make them match the rears in any way... unless they were the same width!

let me explain, i used to run an camaro with 16,s and a 50 section on each corner then i obtained 17,s with 45,s on the front and 40 at the rear, the car looked nicer but the steering was less responcive untill i sorced 40,s for the front (i think they where cooper) but ime going back 8-10 years ago and the driveability was transformed,felt like it had 16,s and with a better flickability on the twistys. so ime trying to keep the feel of my uk,s but want to go up on the brake disc size :D
