Ok guys,

here we go again!

Erm, i was at the local market this afternoon and had a emissions test carried out. Erm.........didnt come back very good!

Because of the overfuelling, the guy carrying out the test reckons it's a straight MOT failure!

SO.......my question is: Does anyone know of how this is fixed? Is it just a matter of taking to a garage and getting them to tweek the ECU to reduce the fuelling levels??????

Cheers for any help!

mate from what i know it controls the firing etc of the spark plugs some one will be along shortly to give you a more detailed explanation :hyper:

More or less thats what it does, its a set of transisters/relays that sends a 12v signal from the ECU to each coil pack, thats the simplist way of explaining it

Thats grand. Cheers guys.

Erm, in reply to Baz 1957, i have a spare PTU. I've found to old one in the centre arm rest.

Simon, was this one f**ked or did u just change it for the sake of changing it?

was the original one it does not take long to change, but they both seem to make the car react diferrent them ie over run popping and banging missfire etc never really got to really check them out..............

michael any speeding tickets yet :D

Simon......nah.....not yet!

That snooper that you left in the car comes in a treat!!!!

I just thought it gave the speed reading.....didnae ken that it alerted you to the speed camera's too!! GOD SEND........pure GOD SEND!!!!!

And erm........i've just had a thought. Would nissan be able to sort out my problem?

I know it seems like maybe an expensive option but i'd pay it than go away and change loads of bits to find out that they haven't had an effect!!!

With the money you are gonna spend with Nissan, why not buy Datascan from Legrath or Conzult and check the car yourself, that way you have the tools and am sure plenty of people on here would keep you right with whatever option you bought. That way you dont get ripped off with SCAREY main dealer prices when on here there is more experience on these cars.

Just my 2p's worth.

Cheers John

in all honesty when i went to the main dealers for a oil filter the parts guy told me the mechs havnt got a clue on em now as remember it is a old ( complicated) car and they dont see many of em.

cheers guys.

i've found a conzult on the interweb and it's 315 euro.

Is this expensive or would i be able to get it cheaper?

Dont buy conzult off ebay - yu will still have to buy again the license code to make it work - Just go straight to DTA to buy it.

cheers for the info bilky.

I was looking for one on ebay but couldnt see any.

I was gonna buy one from DTA-motorsports, they sell them for 315 euros!

have you done an ecu check yet? you can test for fault codes & check the O2 sensors without a Conzult you know ;)

just short 2 pins out on the diag socket & the engine warning light gives a blink code :) details in online manual

can ya?

I didnae ken that! How do you do it? Can you get those "things" from hellfrauds and plug it to, to get the codes?

Is there somewhere on here that says wot the codes mean? And since we're on the matter of fault codes, are they listed in the owners/haynes manuals???

cheers paul.

I've had a read through it and im hoping it'll be of some use to me when i get home and start "playing" around with it.

But im still having a personal dilemma. See, the only problem i have with fiddlin with cars is that i have a tendancy to do more damage than good!

I want everything on this car to be perfect so i'm willing to let some garage go it....even if it may cost a bit!

First of all before giving to the garage do the easy stuff first

Fault code check might just point you towards a really easy fix

Change the temp sensor anyway as it doesnt always show on a fault code test and its piece of piss

instructions are in the glove box pack of invoices i gave you..... last time i checked it it showed code 55 (no faults) but had not done the o2 sensor test yet

cheers simon.

So since fault code 55 is showing, would it make sense to change the o2 sensors? or get a check done on them anyway?

If they're goosed, where will i get a new one?

Anyone on here sell them?
