Hello, Ive recently had my car serviced - due to an idling problem, which the garage have put down to the Air Flow Meter not working. They have since informed me that a new one will take 6 weeks to arrive on back order from Japan and I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas or methods of obtaining one?

Or whether or not second hand ones are worth investing in?

It is a 1990 non turbo SWB manual.

Any assitence would be greatly appreciated,

They are quite readily available for about £100 on the forum, they are quite sough after by Skylines and 200sx owners as upgrades so they fetch a good price.

What other symptons if any does the car have, will it rev past 3000rpm....as idling problems do not normally point to the AFM.

If it revs past 3000rpm then the AFM is probably fine and the problem is somewhere else

They said that there was no signal coming from it, the problem it has is when idleing or the clutch drops quickly the car cant maintain the revs properly and it cuts out. So whenever im coming upto a junction and have to stop its very hard to keep the engine running - (im not driving it at the moment). It has shown signs of trouble when accelareting with it stuttering but has gone over 3000 rpm in lower gears, whilst also having a very low emissions score on the MOT of 0.12%.
