My missus passed this on to me and I thought it may be useful for those of your inclinded to put your foot down :D

Very interesting - Speeding Fines info, I cant vouch for it personally but this is what i got sent....

In case you know anyone who is ever caught for speeding:

Just thought I would share this with you, as you know I work in the speeding fine department in Swindon's Magistrate's Court. In the course of my investigation into "fines, their payment methods, and how points are automatically added against drivers licences" we discovered something very interesting "If You Get a Speeding Fine."

This has been tried and it works so if you ever get n this situation, you have an out. We discovered that this procedure wrks nationwide. Read it and try it, you have nothing to lose but the points on your license.

This is how it works: If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you are going to get points on your licence, then there is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get any points.

When you get your fine, send in the cheque to pay for it and if the fine is say, 40, then make the cheque out for £41or some small amount over the fine.

The system will then have to send you back a cheque for the difference, but here is the trick!

**DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHEQUE!!!**

Throw it away!!

Points are not assessed to your licence until all financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the cheque, then the transactions are NOT complete.

However, the system has gotten its money and is happy and will not bother you any more. This information came to our attention from a very reliable computer company that sets up the standard database used by each county's computing system.

There you go peeps, if you get in that situation, try it and see :hyper:

Its not true unfortunatly :(

If you dont cash the cheque it makes no difference to the issuing of the points im afraid, They will give you a set deadline for the money owed to them to be paid and thats the only one that matters, whether you choose to cash the refund isnt part of the points/fine procedure. 9/10 times they wont even cash the overpriced cheque at all and class it as a non payment.

Theres a clip of all the tricks to get off of your speeding fine and all the reasons they dont work somewhere.

Ill have a search.

This sounds like it is worth a shot.

Hopefully I will never need it but it does sound like a good loophole...

Its difficult to know what works and what doesn't but I thought it may provoke an interesting thread with some suggestions.

Although the only foolproof way to avoid getting points is not to commit the crime :p ...............or not get caught

Didnt mean to shoot you down mate :)

The easiest way and most common is from the date of being flashed you have EXACTLY 14days to receive a penalty notice. On the 15th its not valid as the law states anything above 14days is too hard to remember specifics on speeds and who was driving. 14days flat too not 14 working days :D

Rear facing cameras are allways worth fighting as if you "show" to the best of your ability that you honestly dont know who is driving then the likelyhood is that it will be cancelled with a stern warning letter :) as long as there is more then one person who is allowed to drive the car obviously :)

On specs cameras (average speed) change lanes between them  Picks one lane and one lane only so if you move from one to the other then your clear. ONLY for a short time though as they are bringing in digital cameras which will monitor all lanes so no hiding then.

Theres more im sure but my fingers are tired :)

Thats been doing the rounds for years

And its B0ll0x I'm afraid

I think I even have a 1990 ish Max power :o with a write up

telling eveyone is was B0LL0X

It's an interesting topic of which i know little except for the 5 points on my license

Just chip in any info you can dig up. Im sure theres a lot of us who just go along with what the plod say/do without really looking at all the variables.

as you know I work in the speeding fine department in Swindon's Magistrate's Court.

As soon as i got this far it was ringing bells its bullcrap.

No courts have their own "speeding fine department"

did you read that bit too.....

the only safe way to stop fines is to torch the cameras!!

there are ways to avoid speeding

1. dont drive

2. if you do drive, dont speed.

3. if your speeding and you see a camera, hit the brakes hard. this may cause an accident and kill someone, but you wont get a speeding ticket.

4. If you do get a ticket and you cant tell who's driving, then its down to them to prove who is and not down to you to tell them, unless your under oath of course.

5. If the picture is doctored in any way to make the number plate better viewed from the original (you can ask to see it) then it is inadmissable in a court of law.

6. Measure the little white lines, if they are not accurate, then teh ticket is not valid.

7. If you drive a normal car with no identifiable markings or a flashy paint job, and you get cought on camera out of your town, then deny it was you. There are 1000's or stolen cars going about with other peoples number plates on tehm. As long as it does not clearly have a picture of you driving of course.

Not exactly true, they have 14 days to serve the Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) from when the driver is identified. For example, a company car, the company are sent the Name and Address of driver application, they tell them who was driving and that's when the 14 days start. However with any request they automatically send out a NIP.

Hope that clarifies it a little.

with a privately owned vehicle, as im sure most on here are, surely the nip gets automatically sent to the registered owner of the car... which they have 14 days to do?

Its 14days from the date of offence and its 14days to the registered owner of the vehicle.

This isnt a time limit for you to answer its strictly a 2 week period of them having to serve you notice within.

I am on this government scheme where if you collect 12 points, yer dont need a licence. How cool is that  Not many more to go now :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

A bloke who works with me got a fine and points for speeding but refused to pay and opted to go to court as he denied the offence and as the fine wouldnt be big the courts dropped all charges. He says this is the second time hes done it and got away with it.

It seems to me that if you think your going to get points then theres nothing to lose by doing this

If the NIP was sent to the registered keeper within 14 days then it is valid. So in the case of a company car, providing the police send it to the company within 14 days, then once the company identifies he driver it doesn't matter if the police take more than another 14 days to re-issue it to the driver.

Similarly if the police take longer than 14 days to notify the company who own the vehicle, then the company can have the ticket cancelled without the need for another NIP being issued to the driver.

I know this because my company runs 26 cars and my drivers are always getting tickets.......

.......In the last year we have received 4 NIPs in respect of fleet cars sufficiently later than 14 days after the offence. In fact one even had an issue date of 3 weeks after the offence! Each time I have written to the police authority informing them of the 14 day rule and each ticket has been cancelled on the spot.

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
