I was just wondering if their was an obvious remedy for slightly knocking suspention at the front ? I have had the car up on the ramp and can see anything wrong apart from a split boot on the left hand side ? One thing worth mentioning is that when im going from reverse to 1st i sometimes get a knock and visa versa.

Hope that made sense :p

It's usually the top link, it's a kind of sliding bearing thing that just wears out.

thanks guys, joely i get a general harshness whilst driving on the front all the time over bumps but yes it does knock when i drive backwards then forwards.

Guys i went through a 6 month process changing top links, tension rods, bushes, dampers etc.

clunking was still there.

Turned out to be the front sub-frame loose

one bolt was already almost out and the rest were loose. Seems like it happens after 15 years-ish of use so one that needs to be checked by everyone one suspects.
