The task was remove/replace a wing remove/repair headlights and front bumper and all undertrays. strip both heads off engine in situ to diagnose problem,remove the rest of the engine. Clean Engine bay,Refit a replacement engine incl Pump cambelt change.

Another ZXTT is on the road, Has anyone else

on the forum had a similar initiation into owning a Z.

So what did you find when the heads came off?

must have been serious for a new engine

When i took the heads off, head gaskets were blown,someone had carried on running the car, water was in the oil, but a few cam lobes were showing wear and cam followers wer

badly pitted. A head refurb job was too risky bearing in mind i hadnt heard the engine running before.
