after fitting a scorpion exhaust last night my car atarted to smoke out the drivers side, the car was already decatted. i think the reduction in backpressure has caused the seal to leak at tickover, when driving the car there is no smoke only on tickover, i decided to turn the revs up to 1200 to see if it still smoked and it stopped and hasnt smoked anymore. if i turn the revs back down to normal it starts to smoke again.

i know this is not a fix but will have to do till i save for some hybrids.

Just a thought, but how much penetrating lubricant did you use to remove the old exhaust bolts? It's just when I was trying to get a siezed o2 sensor out I used loads, and it smoked for a couple of days.

none

its deffo not that mate.

turbos bud

soon as it rests to a certin rpm. Is when less backpressure is asked for, hence why smoke is comng out when at idle, regardless of where RPM is set, your hiding the issue with pressure.

What he said.....

......but if the smoking is not too bad and you're not having to top up the oil then leave it - especially if performance is not effected.

Wait until power drops or it starts to really smoke then get the turbos done; it is usually just the rear turbo oil seal but if you're taking them out it makes economic sense to recon the whole units.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

well its not smoking at all now since knocking the revs up slightly and there is no loss in performance. i,m gonna wait till they are ****ed and replace with a set of hybrids. if i can get the summer out of them i,ll be happy, as i,ll take the car off the road in winter and pull the engine and give it a right sorting with some injectors valve seals, hybrids and watever needs doin wen the lump is out.

well it works for now greg, i know this is not a cure but i might get the summer out of her before the turbo goes bad

or just do what i did,get them RE-CONDITIONED by midland(shitland turbos)and they still smoke :mac1: ,or just save up a grand,go into yr local high street and throw it up in the air, atleast u wont be any where near as PISSED OFF as i am right now.and i,ve compression tested it so ruled out every other possibility, hope u hav better luck than me wen u decide to get them sorted.

cheers gazza. i,m gonna run mine as it is and see wat happens. ive been using her for a couple of day and still no smoke, and shes still running sweet.

if i do decide to replace tubs, i,ll get some hrbrids and do it proper so i can proper melt the engine with 25 psi lol
