Good morning all,

My crankshaft is damaged again (second time...) but this time i was lucky my rods are not damaged.

The problem was that i didn't know how to choose the correct size of bearing. I'm not a mechanic, i just like modifying my engine and i pay what it cost to learn ;)

So my question is about my crankshaft.

I could go with a brand new one from nissan for 1080€ or make muine to be rebuild, re balance and lighten.

What should i do?

I would prefer going with a rebuilt and lighten as this will be an upgrade for the engine but don't know the back side of doing this.

ho yes i know but it's the exact same as the one sold by Nissan.

There is no difference between an OEM and a Nismo one ;)

I've read that also...but what’s wrong with a stock crankshaft? Its way cheaper that the 1080 Eur?? Pound? You’ve quoted.

Wow much would you pay for a rebuild?

rebuilding would be about 700€ which is the same as buying the nismo one from the states.

But the question is more about does rebuilding is good or not? Because then, i would have a lighter crankshaft :)

or buy a (cheap) low mileage NA engine...it has the same crankshaft/rods/shortblock.

Being a NA it took less abuse in it's life, so it's usually in very good shape and very useful as a donor for a rebuilt

when you say lighten the crank shaft how are you going to achieve this???? by machining it???? id just get a new one if i were you. Cant see how your gonna make the crank shaft lighter without removing metal, not sure thats such a good idea

I would buy the Nismo unit.

Even the Jun world record car used a stock crank I think??!!
