Just bought a 1991 twin turbo. drove it off the lot, picked up my g/f 20mins later the think was smoking CLOUDS OF Smoke Looks like Blue/White more blue. took it back to him and he said it said for a few months. So he paid to get 20/50 oil in it. Im like UMMM OK. anyways its Still Smoking i hit 30mph and i can Smoke out about 4blocks of cars. There was small amounts of oil in the turbos enough to concern me. Any ideas? its been almost a week. I need to act fast as i dont wanna get stuck with a peice of shit

if you drove it off the lot i assume it was a trader... take it back and demand your money back or you will inform trading standards! do it quick before its too late. choose your next one more carefully by seeing it run for a lenghty period of time on idle ;) it may need new tubs or it may need some internal engine replacements, most likely piston rings or potentially valve stem seals etc. dont accept an offer from him to sort it as he will only gash it! a bottle of wynns stop smoke doesnt cost much :smash:

Ya, monday i took it to him he was like it didnt do that when i had it so i took him he was like awww your right it is smoking. said bring it back tomorrow as he needs to read up on it. brought it back he paid for the new oil he put in 20/50 i was just baffled. try that he said drive it a few days he also put in some conditioner. Seems to be avoiding me. Cuz now i have to take it to him tomorrow i asked him about a refund he said I dont think we can do that.

get your money back immediately mate. reason im saying this (on top of what everyone else has said) is that im facing the same problem and am looking at stumping up £2-3k for engine+turbo rebuild. ive had the car for over 4 years and spent well over £10k on it - THATs being attached to it. there's plenty more Zs out there.

20/50 oil should tell you something. Like he knows nothing about the car......Good Luck, but maybe a few bricks through his other cars windows etc might change his mind. Not that I am suggesting it of course. Cost him a lot more in the long run....

as above, get onto trading standards, and also read up on the sale of goods act, especially your statutary rights. He doesnt have a leg to stand on. seems to me that he has knowingly sold you abit of a dog. and putting 20/50 oil in the car ??????????. if its smoking that bad and its pretty constant then there probably something quite severe wrong, ie, rings tubs tec..... if you keep the car, then it will cost you a hell of alot more to put that right trust me, take it back and get your cash back. DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. but you must act on it know dont just wait for the guy to get back to you.
