Recently bought a greddy oil sandwich plate to hook up the autogauge oil gauges ive bought but the senders and mounting holes on the plate are a different threading? Am I missing something like an adaptor or should I just get a different plate?

Are you sure it's different and not just a tapered thread??

not sure what a tapered thread is but the senders get damn hard to turn after 2 or 3 threads in and when I remove it I can see damage to the sender threads

is the beginning part of the thread smaller than the last part of the thread ?

I will double check tonight but from what i remember the thread looked the same all the way across.

  • Author
it is probably a different thread tbh !

Your probably right. Anyone know of a sandwich plate that has the same threads as these senders then?

mine came with an adapter if you want i haven't fitted it yet you can try it and then order one??????

That would be great pete  When would ya be able to nip round?

Nothing to do with your initial problem Pete, but watch the seal if using nissan oil filter I dumped all the oil out within a week thought it was me at first but then on saturday had a play on the motorway........yesterday I was leaking oil again in fact all of it. I have emptied the sump twice now costing £90 worth of oil and if I didnt notice it maybe would have turned into cooked engine. I have bought a different brand of filter now and going to put the new filter on tonight and compare them. Saying that mine isnt a Greedy one, but bear it in mind bud.

We've compared the nissan filter with a Fram one and the seal position is definately different and ive gotta admit, the Fram one looks like it make a better seal with the sandwich plate. :smash:

Out of interest, would i be able to install the plate without having to drain the oil?

 i was waiting for you to parp up!!

if it's any use paul one thing to check is that the seal off the bottom of the filter tends to come off and stick to the plate hence causing the leek hope it helps m8

when you fit the big nut extension that the filter hangs off make sure you use thread lock pete or everytime you take a filter off you,ll run the risk of turning the whole plate, allso you can fit with oil in sump as its higher but your gunna lose the oil in filter and what drains down from the block, about a pint :) hth

I can afford to loose a pint. Cheers for the tip Brian.

I'm pretty sure the thread size they're refering to is the for the large bolt that holds the plate to the block. I called them up and asked for the SKU for one that would fit a 300ZX.
