Plans to ban cars older than 10years from our roads

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Banning/restricting cars over 10yrs old. This is on the .gov website too.

"Several EU proposals across the years are dangerous to the classic car movement. One that has been under consideration is to ban the use of cars older than 10 years. Similarly, Edinburgh City Council is considering the banning of cars over 15 years old from the town centre. These, and similar, proposals directly threaten the classic car movement, and encourage the manufacture of new cars, with the attendent environmental issues of sourcing raw materials, manufacturing, distriuting and scrapping the spiralling supply of new vehicles."

You'll be banned from using the roads and only allowed to take the vehicle out having obtained PRIOR consent from your local council.. I.e youd have to plan your route in advance and inform the council for approval who may then decline the whole thing or certain aspects like perhaps if you wish to pass through a city centre etc...

Define wet! It's political correctness gorne mad. Only the other day I read in

The Daily Sky is Falling Down that... blah.. blah... blah....

What i want to know is, what are they trying to get past us by making us notice all these pathetic, pointless polls.

I mean, there has to be something were missing as banning all the old cars has so many holes in its idea that there has to something more sinister were missing

what would the reasoning be behind the ban though?

Your Z will be banned or made financially unviable because they say it will warm the planet to destruction! Your CO2 emissions are too high and you must pay them more so they can control the weather! The fact that a Prius or any other eco friendly green car has a higher dust to dust carbon footprint than your Z will not be mentioned or entertained! The good news is we won't be rolling over lightly as the 1.8 Million signatures on the road tax petition demonstrates.

Best thing we can do is vote Labour out. The rest may not be alot better but they sure as hell couldn't be worse :)

although it is pretty funny that most who have imports have got their cars

BECAUSE japan give their car owners/makers incentives to get rid of older cars, hence the amount of imports that appear in THIS country

Not incentives, more like penalties. I've never been to Japan but I guess the less well off simply cannot afford to own a car?

the first SERIOUS petition that is needed will after all these never be

listened to/taken seriously

The road pricing petition was a very serious one with 1.8 M sigs. You don't really think they won't try to tax YOU off the road in any way they can do you? Of course they will try! All in the name of saving the planet!

VOTE THEM OUT ................its that simple ..........vote BNP come out of europe and get britain great again ..............oh and some amoebic dysentry for Mr Blah would be a nice little boost for my morale :))

it was that serious that at the end, blair said it wouldnt have mattered if 30 million had signed it, IF it was thought it was in the countrys best interests a trial WOULD still go ahead

tbh my life is to short and to important to get stressed over every petition

and paper printed of what may and may not happen

i also find it funny that some people in this thread were also banging on the other week how important saving the planet is and doing their best tree hugging impressions, a week or so on they are stamping their feet and turning red over a RUMOUR

same way someone every other week used to try and get members of this forum to sign this and that petition over speed cameras or road laws

and in the end people used to ignore those posts, as i said earlier and deve8uk mentions cry wolf enough and something rather large is going to eat you!!

so carry on if it helps your lives, im just about to live the most important 24 of mine THE NEXT ONES

waste of time this kind of thing it give the illusion its credible as its got a .gov

i've looked into it and its its free for anyone to put up a petition or poll on that site just like it is here

.....you could put up a petition asking for all ferrari's and skylines to be limited to 30 mph if you like...and get 1000's to sign but so what...i remember a few unversities got a petition together years ago to ban water as its used in chemical weapons and bomb making and hundreds signed up to it...it reminds me of Chris Morris and brass eye type satire / windups

maybe so but this whole banning cars over 10 years old has been brought up before in the media, it was my elderly house bound grandma that told me so she will have got from either the daily express or the news/parliament type programmes

More errosion of our civil liberties from the big brother of europe.

Signed.

Darrell

Agree & signed

cant see that ever happening myself to be honest, how many cars in england are over 10 years old???? what exactly happens to them when they get banned. thats a whole lot of cars to scrap. then cars that were lets say 8 yrs old would be worth peanuts, and an 8 yr old motor is a fairly modern vehicle. its just another case of overpayed do gooders point scoring for elections. it really is quite pathetic if you ask me, do the ppl who come up with this nonsense not realise this is the exact sort of thing that gets the hard working tax payer up in arms, and rightly so

  signed

Can't see this happening.......

.....10 years old - that's only an "R" reg isn't it?

And what would be the benefit? Since 1992 (15 years ago) all new cars needed catalyic converters to reduce emissions. Said cats are tested annually at the MOT test along with vehicle emssions anyway so all polluters are failed and if not fixed, remved from our roads (hopefully).

Richard :wack:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
