Plans to ban cars older than 10years from our roads

Banning/restricting cars over 10yrs old. This is on the .gov website too.

 

"Several EU proposals across the years are dangerous to the classic car movement. One that has been under consideration is to ban the use of cars older than 10 years. Similarly, Edinburgh City Council is considering the banning of cars over 15 years old from the town centre. These, and similar, proposals directly threaten the classic car movement, and encourage the manufacture of new cars, with the attendent environmental issues of sourcing raw materials, manufacturing, distriuting and scrapping the spiralling supply of new vehicles."

 

You'll be banned from using the roads and only allowed to take the vehicle out having obtained PRIOR consent from your local council.. I.e youd have to plan your route in advance and inform the council for approval who may then decline the whole thing or certain aspects like perhaps if you wish to pass through a city centre etc...

This scare has done the rounds a number of times too. In much the same way as motorfactors being forced to sell only to the trade and not to the general public. There was something doing the rounds a few years ago hinting that all DIY mechanical motor vehicle work would be made illegal.

There was a scare that did the rounds for a few years that car tax for gas guzzlers was going to go sky high, thats started in a round about way and who knows what will come up in next years budget so I would not put anything past the people that run this country.

although it is pretty funny that most who have imports have got their cars

BECAUSE japan give their car owners/makers incentives to get rid of older cars, hence the amount of imports that appear in THIS country :rolleyes:

To keep the unemployed and lower wage bracket people off the road initially. The next move would then be to introduce a fee for the older cars (almost done already) so then people who can afford a new car and have a classic will still be allowed to run the classic. After that all the poorer folks would be forced to use public transport which would be charged by deduction from their dole money or wages. Then they are well on the way to controlling the nation from the bottom up? :)
