Hi Guys,

my car has decided to sometimes not rev above 5k,sometimes its frine(usually when your trying to show people the fault),i've checked the plugs and they seem ok,tonight i got a loan of a working PTU but still no difference,

its like i'm hitting the rev limiter,i thought at first it may be boost related but no matter if i'm at 1bar or 1.5bar as soon as it hits 5k it splutters,

i've never had it out in the wet but i have another AFM to try incase, any other ideas?

rather dangerous when you pull out to overtake and it does it.

thanks in advance

Paul.

Check the speed signal to the ECU - different rev limits for stationary and moving :)

I remember once taking me daughters boyfriend for a spin up the mountain road to show off, soon as i got to about 4.5K, she just wouldn't go any further, almost like hitting a brick wall, got her home no probs cos upto that point driving was fine, went round all the hose clips in the engine bay and noticed a pipe sitting a bit off, removed and re fitted and tightened all hose clips. Tried it again and she revved all the way up the clocks, no bother :)

So point being, a boost leak could be appearing when your pushing at 5K.

If you can't find it, Anyone up your way got a boost leak tester ? theres a few on here with em if not.

sounds like a leak to me too, try running up the rev range slowly (ie little boost) and then do the same again with WOT

thanks guys,i'll have a check in the morning, hopefully get it sorted :)
