Do you think they will rise in value at all?

I'm sure I saw a thread recently about this...

I think if I came to sell the car i'd have to strip it back to standard and sell everything seperately at least.

You'd think at the moment you could make a lot more money breaking the car up than selling it as a whole.

i think they will but i reckon the most valuble one are going to be unmolested stock examples which are pretty hard to get hold of. but thats just my opinion. hope someone disagrees wit me!!

mines goin in the trader next week for 3k it stands me around 2200 and it needs the heater matrix changed (pipes have been joined to stop leaking) lets see how many people offer me stupid money for it lol

Mine went for 3k. A 2+2 NA manual pretty standard and in good nick. I thought it wasn't too bad a deal. If there are people willing to pay...

So how much would my 1992 JDM TT Manual SWB Slicktop go for with just turned 50k miles on the clock, belts changed etc

couldn't say for sure but you've got the most desireable model of zed bar the convertable. woulda thought you could get over 4k rather easily IMO. the traders could probably be more accurate.

I reckon on a good day this could get much more than 4k. Very nice looking car. Having said that, 300zx.co.uk viewers will always say the slick top is the most desirable model due to a stiffer chassis etc etc.

But Mr average Joe who wants a nice fast car may well choose a zed because of its targa option.

i'll disagree wit you, just for the sake of disagreing

Any zed is only worth the money someone is prepared to pay for it not neccesseraly its true value though or how much anyone desires it

all super cars are dropping value ! look at supra and rx7 prices etc even skylines !

 Not one "Supercar" in the entire list

The prices of Zeds will not rise untill you can start to pick them up all the time for £1000.

Then the good ones you will have to pay £5k+ to get your hands on. Its a downhill slope untill then.

i'll disagree wit you, just for the sake of disagreing

true and when you look at it like that, these cars are 15 yrs old and a lot of em have the horrible tweed interior. not many people want to pay a lot for that.

Exactly, put with high fuel costs, high repair costs, bad reliability, hard to work on, high miles, cost of car to cost of running is appalling!

To be honest its a surprise anyone buys a zed lol

awesome cars when they do work tho.

All cars drop in value. Very, very, very, very few ever go up.

All this green / eco stuff isn't exactly going to help 3 litre sports cars either. Plus the 300ZX has a reputation for costing a lot if they go wrong - that's only going to become more of a factor as the cars get older.

Plus you can get a 350Z for about £12K now - and they're only getting cheaper too.

Maybe mint, standard, low mile cars will appreciate a little in a few years. But I wouldn't count on it.

I never think about how much my cars worth, I do think about how much it would cost to hire a car with the same spec per day. Then I think it's cheap thrills.

Well i really don't know what to do with mine, its a mint standart TT Auto with warrenty etc and no one seems to want it. It's at £5000 and i think thats a good price. I can't afford to have it standing there doing nothing for much longer though.

Thats the point. Its worth £5k all day long. But if you want someone to buy it your gonna have to drop the price by £1.2k at least!

Neither would I......

However I would think that once all the ebay rubbish has rotted away, or died, or been written off by inexperienced drivers; then the prices of said good examples will remain good.

The Supra, RX7 etc are dropping all the time, as someone has said. But the prices of very good Porsche 928s are still holding their own. If I'd bought that 1989 55k mile 928s4 for £10k some years back instead of spending £5k on my 300zx, the Porsche would probably still fetch almost £10k today.......

Still I don't care. The driving pleasure gained from the zx is worth whatever it loses in value. I didn't buy it as an investment - no car should be - I bought it to use.

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

That's not quite true a lot of 70's & 80's cars are appreciating. Most have had a good following over the years and some are FORD's.

Too name two:-

Capri 280, 10 years ago (10 years after it went out of production) you could pick up a good one for £2-3K, try and find one a good one today it'll cost you 10K.

Escort Mark1 the only two in the trader at the moment will set you back 10-15K.

Even MK II's are now on the up.

Why, because they have had a big following over the years, and are now featured prominently in Classic car mag's. Rather than trying to get cars in the Jap tunning mag, not really the place for classic cars in my opinion, the likes of Funky Si and other owners with good original 300ZX's should try and get them in the Classic car mags to raise the profile of the car. I've sent pic's and a description of mine to one of the classic mags, we will have to see if it appears.

The Z32, seems to be the forgotten Japanese performance car, how often to you see one in any car mag?

So rather than having a moan about the low prices, how about taking a more active role in raising the profile of the car. Members with good modified cars should send pic's and descriptions of their cars to the tuning mags, not Max Power  , the one's with good original examples do the same with the classic car mag's.

Unfortunately, it's still possible to import poor quality ones in from Japan, when these dry up, and with a higher profile for 300zx's the price will probably start to rise.

This is just my opinion, no doubt many of you will disagree

Keith

Problem is at the moment that there are a ton of them coming over on import with not a great deal to choose between most of them, plus they cost a bomb to run. I can't see prices rising any time soon. It's funny really because I remember people complaining about the low prices when I got mine a couple of years back, but they've dropped an AWFUL lot further since then. You should be able to pick up a decent TT for around £4k nowadays, maybe even a bit less, but it was £5 - £6k when I was in the market. Ah well, you live and learn.

I should point out that this is the reason mine's sitting on the driveway... it's just not economical to repair it (trouble with valves) which wouldn't bother me except that I've recently bought a house so spare cash is now no more than a feeling of nostalgia for me. I was planning to sell up, but if I did repair it I doubt I'd get the money back.
