Just another brain picker, does the Z need the front fog lights to pass the M.O.T cause i want fit carbon ducts but don't want to have to change them back for the M.O.T

Featured Replies

They have side lights in, so yes. Unless you can mount the sidelights somewhere else.

Foglights, NO mate not needed for MOT as front fogs are not a legal requirement, just rear fogs are ;)

UK specs have sidelight and indicator where the Jap specs have their Fog lights.

cheers

My car is a J-spec and has no rear fogs that am aware, and the front lights on my bumper come on when the side lights are turned on if that makes any thing more clear cause am still none the wiser.

the sidelight bulbs are in the fog light housing, try sorcing some uk indicators as they have the side lights in them

cheers, think that's the way to go then. Does your carbon ducts bolt onto the bit that the fogs do or are the bonded to the bumper? Also do you know what that little black thing is that is screwed onto the bottom of the black thing that the fogs are onto? Looks like a sensor or something. So many Q's mate.

Sorry no idea on the sensor thing mate. As for the ducts though, they bond straight onto the bumper, nice snug fit and available in Fibreglass ( instock) or Carbon fibre finish ;)

The Answer to that on my car is NO, i have the side lights in the front fog lights, and the indicators are just indicators, there is no place in them for a 501 side light bulb?

Have a look at my car below with the 99 spec front on.

Nope, my JDM has sidelights in the foglights. Some JDMs had indicator lenses with running lights in them as well.

So is there two types of indicators for the 99-spec then, seems to be two opinions here and am still confused.

I have only seen the type thats on my car, and all the other 99 fronts i have seen are the same, i have tried to get crystal clear indicators for mine but they don't make them as far as i know, i was thinking of drilling a hole in the indicators and fitting a side light bulb in them (led 501 type).

Because i have uprated the bulb in the fog lights and the side light bulb keeps blowing because of the extra heat generated by the bigger wattage bulb....

^^^^^^What he said^^^^^^^

Nah bin em, bet yer never really use em anyways ;) just looked on Lukes site and yep the boys are right about the 99 spec, am wrong, sozzzzz

Yeh but if they are correct that means i need the fogs as they are also the sidelights and if I remove them I won't pass the M.O.T.

As the other 99-ers have said, indicators for the 99-spec bumper do not have sidelights in. You still need J-spec fogs or UK spec combi lights to keep side lights.

If you have a stock bumper, buy USA spec corner lights - they have indicators and side lights where the J-spec indicators fit. You could then remove your J-spec fogs for your project. The added bonus is you can use the stock fog light switch for your rear fogs, like the UK spec cars ;)

Check out my car as it was in "rides" before I fitted a 99-spec front. I bought USA spec clear corners for my UK ZX and fitted front fogs.
