Hey peeps, just wondering if this is going to be a viable project.

Am I looking at mega money for that kind of hp at the wheels??

The mods I have so far are:

Sus induction

Decat with divorced downpipes, longlife s/steel system.

Lightened crank pulley

Avc-R boost controller

Before I fitted the boosty it was 280 at the wheels and I'm now running 0.85 bar which feels quite nippy.

Looking at Smithy's website I've got a list of things I'm guessing I would need to acheive the above figure safely

555cc injectors, intercoolers, engine rebulid kit for reliabilty, head bolt kit, big brake kit, 6 puck clutch, lightened flywheel, turbos of some kind.

I can spend up to £7000 including labour costs.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated because there are a lot of 200sx's round my way I need to put in there place :mac1:

An extra 3.5k ontop of your current mods will see 400bhp at the wheels.

Superb, wot mods are we talking though for that money and bhp + half decent reliability??

Very rough costs :

£500 Injectors

£700 Intercoolers

£2000 turbos

£500 manifolds

£450 Forged pistons

£200 Gasket set

£600 GTR Brake conversion

£500 Clutch & Flywheel

£500 engineers labour

£1000 Garage labour

£200-£500 Rolling road setup

You would also want to look at improving suspension setup.

Forgot to say already have eibach springs and 255lph fuel pump. So £7000 is about right then. Takemetothepub what mods would you recommend for 3.5k? Just trying to get an idea cos if I can safely get awy with spending that much I will ;)

£2200 Zen garage turbo upgrade

£500 555's

£300 intercooler

£?? chip mapped/rr day

£500 set of new standard pistons + Gasket set

done.

Before you look at performance get some better brakes. Look on the Skyline forums for a set of R33 or R34 GTR brakes The GTS and even the R32 GTR brakes are the same as the Zed. £800 to £3500 if you go for a new setup

Fordged Rebuild kit

Fordge Wesco pistons, Eagle rods, Torgs bearing (big and small end), Head studs, oil pump, water pump, Cam belt new cam pullies and complete Gasket kit.

I know Smithy is doing some kits don't know prices

If you get it from the states it'll proberbly cosy you about £1800 including duty if you get them to mark the value down, but you risk loosing out on insurance if it goes astray. If you insist on UPS they are the best and i don't know anyone who have had anything go missing with UPS. look at http://www.AMZperformance.com http://www.Z1motorsport.com

injectors about £500

Turbos can cost anything from £1000 for a phase 1 hybrid (generally poor quality) to £3000 Turbo Dynamics who smithy used to used are about the best in UK for Hybrid and upgrades. Then you have option from the states. One thing to remember though is if you have problems with Turbos from the US you have to ship them back to the US and shipping could be real costly.

Lightened Flywheel about £400

Uprated clutch £400 My advice is to stay clear of pule clutches unless your just racing the car. If you do a lot of town driving it won't last and they are awefull for daily use.

SMIC £600 to £900 depending where you get them Look at the states maybe worth a look. Remember quality is more important than Bling. FMIC is proberbly OTT and ££££££

Look for second hand

Proper Rad of high flow rate £250 to £400 maybe look for a second hand

Good uprated oil cooler couplings etc £200 to £250

Then you'll need a good engineer. I assure you your rebuild will be no good if the machining work is crap. + a good mechanic if your not doing the work yourself.

£2000

So £7000 isn't going to go far. Then there's suspension, Bling, clocks, ECU mapping and loads more.

Nice one, so rest of internals are beefy enough for the power?

Sorry to go :x: on but with the list of Smithy's parts I originally listed at top of thread wot sort of hp could I be seeing then?

For 400bhp a set of new standard pistons will be fine fella. You can get them for under £100 including import tax from the states.

Nice one, thats what I was thinking, need reliability cos its my every day driver. Will have to get onto Smithy & see if he'll do a deal on a big shopping list ;) ;)

Thanks chaps for all your input so far, I don't post very often but when I do everyone is spot on with advice, cheers

Good on ya

As soon as you start to put extra power through your engine you'll place the big ends and small ends under more stress than they are used to. + The mileage already clocked up its always wizest to have your crank polished and balanced so i think it's wize to get it all fettled. New valve springs and guides is a good ideal too, because once its in bits it just and extra £1200 ish of bits for piece of mind.

Once its run in properley you know you should have a least 50K miles without problems other than getting traction

I have 1 word for you.

BRAKES

here here traction is my problem now..lol

traction control group buy, nudge, nudge, wink wink

cars are so cheap to buy now would be better to buy one ready done

Have a look at this one http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/73964.htm

Then you could sell yours and finish it off with the money saved, get it coverted to manual etc

Its the fastest colour too!

I like that rear spoiler

Not many people will agree with me on this but i had my boost up to about 14-15 psi with usual breathing mods and a HKS FMIC, that put me upto about 350 bhp at the fly, also had 120 bhp shot of nitrous (with a good clutch!) used it quite a lot with no problems (apart from blowing one of my standard intercoolers!) i ran this for about 20000 miles with no problems and sold it to a mate, its now done about 35000 with this set up and never missed a beat ;)

the good thing about it was i had the power there if i needed but otherwise i wasn't burning any extra fuel.

People will say its a stupid idea etc..... and maybe it was, but it worked and nothing feels like 120 extra BHP at the touch of a button and nothing could touch it when i did.

just a thought. :D
