WAS RUNNING - NOT PERFECTLY PRETTY LUMPY AT TIMES?

NOW CHUCKED IT & NOT STARTING (TRIES REALLY HARD THO!!

FUEL IS RUNNING AND INJECTORS ARE CLICKING BUT NO SPARK

 

PLEASE HELP !!!

I think the 11B's are the way to go. White smoke sounds like oil but hopefully it will clear. If your car has been sitting for a while, it may take some time.

 

I'll have a look into the ignition relay and see what I can find.

The earth for the ignition and ECCS relay both come from pin 16 of the ECU (an orange wire). You may have an ECU problem.

 

Have a search in the posts on how to obtain fault codes from the ECU and how to reset them

Tnx Mate Ill Do That, The Smoke Is White First It Was Comming From The Passenger Side Exhust But Then After 20-30 Min It Went Away And Started On The Driver Side Exhust, When I Rev It It Smokes More Soon As Its Left To Idle It Gets Less And Increases, Iv Checked Oil And Thats Fine Not Lossing Any Also Water Is Clear, Im Just Wondering Could It Be That 2 Weeks Of Hard Cranking And Flooding The Engine Could Be The Cause? As Fuel Has Collected In Chambers Etc? It Never Smoked B4 This Problem! Cheers Again Mate

Often with excessive fuel you will get a bore wash, which being thin will collect around the rings and take time to clear. Give it a good run and a filter / oil change and see how it goes.

 

Has it stopped popping and now running smoother ?

YEH IT POPED TWICE WHEN FIRST FIRING UP AFTER THAT IT WAS A BIT ROUGH BUT LONGER THE CAR WAS RUNNING THE SMOOTHER IT WAS GETTING, ILL GIVE IT A GOOD RUN B4 I TAKE IT FOR ITS MOT AS ITS BEEN STOOD FOR OVER 12 MONTHS AND ALSO THE FUEL BUILD UP MAY BE THE CAUSE OF IT IV BEEN SUGGESTED THE TURBO SEALS MAY HAVE WORN LETING OIL IN?? ISNT THAT SUPOSED TO GIVE OUT BLUE WHITE SMOKE? AND SMELL OF OIL?

MarkZX had the same problem with the relay earth from the ECU. Try contacting him as I helped him trace it back over the phone with his auto electrician.

 

The white smoke will be fuel in the exhausts plus as NZ said the oil will be full of fuel so will be thinner and getting past the rings. Best change the oil asap...

manual mate, got mot sorted oday but the guy said the emmisions were way too high any ideas y?

Probably burning the oil due to it getting past the rings... Got an auto ecu but it will work just as well - not socketed tho

hi andy just opened the back of ecu and i can see one track which is burnt out i gess that is the problem area!! is there any way of repairing it?

Yep but you need to be good with a soldering iron. Scrape off the laquer so the copper track is bare then solder a wire in to replace the burnt out track :)

hi mate iv been told £100 for a used ecu for uk tt manual

HOWEVER I HAVE A MINES ECU FOR IT GOING IN TOMORROW

sounds the same as mine now even though it was working fine when i put the car in the garage removed all inlet and cams to sort out the bodge that someone else had done put it all back together and no spark so looks like i will be checking all wiring replacing all coroded plugs oh what fun.also can someone tell me how to get in to ecu diag mode looked over threads but no joy?

hi mate take my advise i learnt the hard way, b4 u do ewt change your plugs new ones then check the ignition coil relay it should click when u turn key if it doesnt then u got same fault as me i replaced ecu 2 days ago and the car is spot on, starts first key. my prob was that plugs were f**ked evn tho they hadnt evn covered 1000 miles also there was no earth trigger from ecu to the ign coil relay. neways good luck. ne probs let me know tnx

Hi mate try disconecting your battery for half hour then connecting it up will reset your ecu memory. These engines are very complicated everytime you work on them its best to reset ecu as in cases where certain plugs have been disconnected the ecu loses certain info and dont work properlt worth a try reguards Tam.
